Like the showdown in Good Bad and the Ugly, doesn't really work without the buildup.

I love this game.

Legend has it the project lead wound up having to create this game with almost no budget, no additional support, no late milestones and with the SH1 project lead hanging around to collect a pay check while not lifting a finger. It was supposed to be a form of punishment...or a lesson...for speaking up and criticizing the SH1 lead's ideas.
Konami fires the SH2 project lead just after release. The game winds up being the most talked about chapter of the series. Fuck game development. The end.

Riskbreaker - 2011-09-21 Extra trivia: The lead designer from the first SH eventually went on to make the Siren franchise.

RockBolt - 2011-09-21 Also he was just escorting his daughter to the auditions for the game and got asked to read the part of James

Riskbreaker - 2011-09-21 The entire cast was pretty damn good. Screw you konami.

Riskbreaker - 2011-09-22 I was wondering how long it was going to take for poorwill to have a beardo-rage attack over this video.

poorwill - 2011-09-22 Sorry I don't like your shitty game, but that's no reason to bring my beard into this.

Void 71 - 2011-09-21
This was one of the few survival horror games that had enough atmosphere to make you forget about the shitty gameplay.

The whole lead up to this, where the hotel starts dimensionally falling part and getting more and more charred and dripping is such a mindfuck, this is just the cherry on it

Quad9Damage - 2011-09-21
CONTEXT! Her father and brother raped her, her cold-hearted bitch of a mother turned a blind eye, she thinks all men are essentially sexual predators, and she is suicidal. She also revenge-murdered her dad and can't deal with the crushing weight of her guilt and godawful childhood, so her final act is ascending the stairs to burn up in her own literal hell.

Unmerciful Crushing Force - 2011-09-22
The voice acting in SH has always been stilted and kinda disjointed and while I enjoy the stories, it can't help but sound off.
Still, that final line still manages to give me goosebumps.

Quad9Damage - 2011-09-22 I remember reading a comment someone wrote that said when James screams "Leave us alone! Leave us both the hell alone!" during the hotel scene with the two Pyramid Heads and Maria, that he sounds a lot like Robin Williams.
But compare the voice acting in this game to some of the other shit that was out at the time, and it's practically an Oscar performance. As a matter of fact back in 2001(?) people were praising how good Silent Hill 2's acting was.

poorwill - 2011-09-22 Grim Fandango had excellent voice acting.
