By "ultimate justice" he clearly means the "Awful Waffle," from "Salute your Shorts."

Jeriko-1 - 2011-09-08

The Awful Waffle is banned per the Geneva Conventions.

Hammer Falls - 2011-09-08

At 1:35, I imagine he held himself back from saying, "...mess with Texas".

StanleyPain - 2011-09-08

I heard somewhere that you're not supposed to do that.

Hailey2006 - 2011-09-08

This is how democracy end with thunderous applause!

Hailey2006 - 2011-09-08

also I've noticed in the stuff other people like there was:
Titus Andronicus Serves Dinner
MST3K: Manos The Hands of Fates
This is why we can't have nice things

Also, when I first commented on this video, one of the reccomendations was "The Potty Years" from "Tiny Toons"

Perry: Murderers go down the hooooooooooooole!

SolRo - 2011-09-08

You know your civilization is ending when the most accurate quote about the state of our politics is from a Star Wars movie.

Cena_mark - 2011-09-08

Well excuse us true red blooded Americans for wanting to see villains get killed. Its in our human nature, that's why villains die at the end of Disney movies.
Lieberal pussies are the reason why Brevik will get a cushy cell in a cushy prison, not get raped, and be free in 21 years.

Innocent Bystander - 2011-09-08

Yes, Cena, because all criminals, excuse me, villains, are just like Breivik, Hannibal Lecter and Magneto. I also appreciate your use of Disney movies as arguments for execution.

Cena_mark - 2011-09-08

Oh, sorry. I didn't realize murderers aren't villains.

SolRo - 2011-09-08

You based your argument on a premise in a cartoon.

The troll is weak with this one.

Innocent Bystander - 2011-09-08

Since villains are mostly fictional, you should be sorry. Although I have noticed that you do have problems dealing with things that can't be reduced to comic book or film terms so I guess I'll just give you a verbal warning.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2011-09-08

Cena, why do you celebrate a culture of death?

Kidding aside, do you actually think it's a good idea to cheer killing anyone, even if society deems it necessary, especially given how many people have been exonerated as innocent (especially in Texas) after their cases were reviewed and DNA tests ordered?

fatatty - 2011-09-08

http://transgriot.blogspot.com/2011/09/did-rick-perry-execute-inno cent-man.html

simon666 - 2011-09-08

Cena, I think the argument is that if murdering is morally wrong then we ought not murder people.

This point is particularly strong in conversations about the justice system. A murderer is someone who did something morally impermissible. The State, the dictating force of what is right, should not then commit the act it deems as morally impermissible.

Making this point even stronger is that the justice system is not perfect and innocent people are convicted and killed.

Now, tell me if you disagree with the following: Killing 1 innocent person is worse than not killing 1 guilty person.

Shouldn't we prevent all innocent people at least from being put to death?

Jane Error - 2011-09-08

Simon666, though I agree with your conclusion, the whole 'it's hypocritical for the state to kill people as punishment for killing people' argument doesn't really hold up. We also hold people in confinement against their will (i.e. in prison) in punishment for holding people in confinement against their will (say, in the case of kidnapping). It's not hypocrisy: to maintain itself, the state has to be able to do things that individuals can't.

Cena_mark - 2011-09-08

I'm not saying life is like a cartoon, its the Disney cartoons that imitate life. Humanity craves justice. That's why most people believe in hell and that's why our story telling from Grimm's Fairy Tales to Disney's Tangled have their villains die.
GuiltyParty, you say villains are fictional? So Hitler, Stalin, and Jim Jones are all fictional.
Steamy: I'm aware that some prisoners are exonerated, however, most folks on death row are in there because they didn't. Don't let a few good apples spoil the bunch.
Simonsaysstupidshit: I'm not talking about murder, I'm talking about execution. Look in the dictionary; they are different.

Hooker - 2011-09-08

Why on Earth do you guys continually respond to Cena as if he is making points he actually cares about? Trolls say inflammatory stuff to elicit a response. When you make that response, you have been trolled. It's not complicated.

THA SUGAH RAIN - 2011-09-08

You guys are getting fucked with so hard right now.

GravidWithHate - 2011-09-08

Cena's sort of like a heavy bag. He's a target incapable of providing any cogent counter-arguments, and who never moves around. This is people on POETV practicing their rhetorical right hooks.

Also, five stars for Rick Perry, and the political monster spawn-point that is the Texas governor's mansion.

Jane Error - 2011-09-08

Cena, people have a problem with the concept of "villains" because it's a simplistic and childish concept of human beings. To dismiss Hitler or Stalin as villains ignores the question of how such figures were able to rise to such prominence in their cultures in the first place; and to dismiss Jim Jones as a villain ignores the question of how he was able to convince 900 people, most of them adults, to willingly kill themselves.

voodoo_pork - 2011-09-08

Cena, this is the only fact you ever need to know: since 1973, 138 people have been exonerated from death row.

Fuck you. Seriously. Fuck you.

Riskbreaker - 2011-09-08

"its the Disney cartoons that imitate life. "

And you guys call me crazy when i said we have to live under the see.

Riskbreaker - 2011-09-08

sea*

simon666 - 2011-09-08

Jane Error: Just to clarify, if you read close, I'm making three arguments: 1. There is something intuitively wrong about the democratic state committing immoral acts on its citizens, ie: killing them (this is implicit); 2. that we should not kill people as a form of "justice" because there is the chance to kill innocent people; 3. the state loses authority by being hypocritical therefore we should not allow the state to kill people when asserting killing is wrong (within the confines of the state itself... waring between nation-states I think is a different matter).

Cena: Can you run 3 miles in 23 minutes, do 20 pull ups, and 100 sit ups?

KnowFuture - 2011-09-08

Because nothing says "less government" than being OK with the government being allowed under the law to kill its own people.

Rovin - 2011-09-08

An eye for an eye leaves the world blind.

spikestoyiu - 2011-09-08

Cool, Rovin can read bumper stickers.

Rovin - 2011-09-08

Yeah, I'd consider COEXIST but I don't have the right keyboard keys. :...(

fatatty - 2011-09-08

So does this mean we can't quote Gandhi once someone starts profiting off of his words?

baleen - 2011-09-08

Cena cena cena, poor, faggy, trolling cena.

Cena_mark - 2011-09-08

I assure you my support for the death penalty is genuine. I know people get exonerated, but it takes over 20 years for most death row prisoners to finally get it. If you haven't proved a man's innocence by then he probably did do it, and even if he didn't the state ruined his life anyways.
Simon: Who's to say execution is immoral? I don't think its immoral, its not murder, its crime and punishment.

Nofuture: You say that as if the state can indiscriminately kill citizens at will. 1. The guy has to do a crime, 2. Its a long and laborious legal process to execute a prisoner.

Sweetandsourpork: You gotta break a few eggs. I'm not saying the death penalty is perfect, but I still like it there.

oddeye - 2011-09-09

"I know people get exonerated, but it takes over 20 years for most death row prisoners to finally get it. If you haven't proved a man's innocence by then he probably did do it, and even if he didn't the state ruined his life anyways. "

So how it's ok for the state to kill an innocent man because they already ruined his life anyway? Is this the truth, liberty and justice you fight the war on terror so hard in the coast guard for?

The Mothership - 2011-09-08

This is absolutely abhorrent. 5 stars.

spikestoyiu - 2011-09-08

POETV knows that the only deaths worth celebrating are those of Sugarland fans.

Void 71 - 2011-09-08

Perfect comment.

StanleyPain - 2011-09-08

Because dumb, jokey schadenfreude about a random accident is exactly the same as supporting state sponsored murder.

spikestoyiu - 2011-09-08

Oh, so THAT'S the difference! One was just schadenfreude, which is a very funny word, while the other is STATE SPONSORED MURDER, which sounds very, very scary!

Void 71 - 2011-09-08

Death is only funny when you can watch it on Youtube.

Oh, and rednecks.

Pompoulus - 2011-09-08

Stars for Spike.

BorrowedSolution - 2011-09-08

I thought the Sugarland video was in poor taste. I also dislike Rick Perry and everybody who cheers for him.

I guess what I'm saying is that I wish nobody would ever die, ever ever. And I'll kill anybody who disagrees with me.

chumbucket - 2011-09-08

Heinous Villains Row

THA SUGAH RAIN - 2011-09-08

"If elected, I promise one hundred and eighty days of public prisoner gladiatorial combat. If these villains hadn't sinned so heinously, then god wouldn't have sent a punishment like me!"

Spit Spingola - 2011-09-08

He could execute everybody in Texas that would make him really popular.

THA SUGAH RAIN - 2011-09-08

It would also reduce the crime rate to zero, and we all agree the ends justify the means.

Gojira1000 - 2011-09-08

extra points to Cena for his most efficient troll in a while, just looking at the swaety responses. Kudos, sir!

longwinded - 2011-09-08

I know, right? He's my hero

memedumpster - 2011-09-08

Every Republican is Osama bin Laden and should be treated as such... with life imprisonment.

SolRo - 2011-09-08

Hey now!

They might be fundamentalist extremists with ideas about society that date back several centuries, constantly call for violence, and are detached from reality because of their religion, BUT they are xtian.

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-09-08

Shame on all those fucking people.

StanleyPain - 2011-09-08

This clip is nothing, put up the one where Perry defends his idiocy of not believing in climate change by saying "I think Galileo had a few critics in his time" missing the fucking point that Galileo was CORRECT AND VINDICATED ALL THROUGHOUT HISTORY.

Hammer Falls - 2011-09-09

Ha! Phantom stars for you, sir.

charmlessman - 2011-09-08

I love that heinous has become a favorite word of Texan politicians. Every time I hear it I think of Bill and Ted.

oddeye - 2011-09-08

I'll put some ULTIMATE JUSTICE right up his heinous.

rev.dinosaur - 2011-09-09

I'm 100% certain that it's meant to conjure up the opening of Law and Order. SVU.

Hank Friendly - 2011-09-08

Are you a bad enough dude to cheer for capital punishment?

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2011-09-08

So when he is going to kill off all the bankers responsible for the economic collapse?

Zarathustra00 - 2011-09-08

Everyone seems to be missing the point here: JUSTICE. Remember "A heart of justice is, a heart that loves America."

fatatty - 2011-09-08

And God was so pleased with his record setting executions that he made a bad-ass fire consume Texas.

CJH - 2011-09-08

all those trees and homes have now faced ultimate justice

Nikon - 2011-09-08

You're a member of S.T.A.R.S.

oddeye - 2011-09-08

You can almost see the boner he gets when he says "ULTIMATE JUSTICE!" He also doesn't like to entertain the notion that his state has actually murdered innocent people which is a given when the death penalty to enforced.

dead_cat - 2011-09-08

"I'm for small government because government is riuining our lives and treading on our rights! I'm also for our government being able to kill it's own citizens!!

Hey, while I'm up here, where the fuck's all that federal fire-fightin' aid I was asking for for my home state? I'VE BEEN SITTING ON MY ASS WAITING FOR THAT FOR LIKE 24 HOURS ALREADY; WE HAVE LOST 1400 HOMES AND A BUNCH OF PEOPLE, YOU FUCKERS!! DON'T MAKE ME PRAY ABOUT THIS!"

MacGyver Style Bomb - 2011-09-08

He'll just set up another pray-off, hoping that God will do his work for him.

Robin Kestrel - 2011-09-08

Sickening and evil.

cool water sandwich - 2011-09-08

then he thumps his beer down with meaning, and pisses in your garden

kingofthenothing - 2011-09-09

If elected, he will let people watch him eat bloody steak and loaded baked potatoes on liveTV while their families starve. It's the least he can do.

delicatessen - 2011-09-09

What if the murderer is a fetus

Rovin - 2011-09-09

Best comment EVER.

Stopheles - 2011-09-09

The applause is repulsive, but so is the fact that Perry just regurgitates the same soundbite phrases repeatedly and tries to pass them off as individual, consecutive responses to Williams' point.

HEINOUS...ULTIMATE JUSTICE...WHICH IS EXECUTION...HEINOUS...

Timothy A. Bear - 2011-09-09

Each convict is made to wear a wolf costume and is personally executed by Perry on a stage set which looks like a park.
