I'm certain he did this to emphasize that he wasn't really becoming a warlock and nobody should burn him or anything. Part of studying behavior is recognizing that there are people who will believe anything and you shouldn't encourage them.
He could solve murders! Quick, clone Orson Welles and make him in a detective show. It would be the opposite of Psych: the gimmick is that he's not psychic, but he THINKS he is. Also unlike Psych, it would be entertaining.
