Only the most virile of men are allowed to do morning shows, so that they may spread their intentions of ruling over other men, taking their wives, and spreading their morning show kingdom across the land.
This isn't a normal news show, it's a morning show. They always fuck around and tell stupid jokes. They tend to rely on innuendo and tongue in cheek humor because a lot of old people watch.
Incidentally the best Australian newsreader was Richard Morecroft. He did a lot of stuff with native wildlife and at one point he raised a young bat which he had to keep strapped to himself in a pouch when he read the news. Normally it was below the desk but it did climb up once, there's video of it somewhere.
