I don't have time to watch this now, but I'm withholding stars until I find out if they used the song "At The Mountains of Madness" by the band H.P. Lovecraft in the soundtrack.

MrBuddy - 2011-06-29 You're not the least bit curious about what a animated Shoggoth would look like?

I miss the penguins, but still solid.

Pretty cool. I suspect that Cthulhu's voice was a slowed-down belch.

Pretty much matches the amount of the book I scanned while standing in the Horror aisle of Borders books amongst some odd-looking goth teens who were bitching about not seeing a specific printing of the Twilight series.
Also, landed on the platform?

I'm very torn on how to rate this. I absolutely love HP Lovecraft, and I can't help but feel that this lacks so much of what makes the original story amazing. The slow build, the sense of dread and mystery, the reveal that the shoggoths overthrew the Elder Things, which was in my opinion the best and most chilling moment in the story. As well as the part about the Elder Things having an almost religious fear of the nearby mountain, very spooky, mostly as it's only eluded to briefly in the story.
Don't get me wrong here, I realize an animated short film based on HP Lovecraft is impossibly hard to do "right," and I totally applaud their efforts and the artistry involved in this. However, I feel like a little more time could've been spent on atmosphere and a little less on WHOA CTHULU WAR AND NUKING SHOGGOTHS
So, 0 stars.
