To hell with the children man, some of these give me the creeps.

Old_Zircon - 2011-06-13

RIP all the big-box VHS horror tapes I lost in a move in 2009.

NewHeavenSalesman - 2011-06-13

I was obsessed with the Chopping Mall VHS cover as a child, but terrified of the Child's Play 2 cover. Thus, a delicate dance was performed every time I went with my parents to rent movies.

cognitivedissonance - 2011-06-13

Ghoulies for me. Terrified me for YEARS.

revdrew - 2011-06-14

The Lunch Meat one is what did it to me. I'd been trying to think of the name of it for years until I saw this vid.

Zhou Fang - 2011-06-13

Yes... I love Nail Gun Massacre's tagline.

gambol - 2011-06-13

I would watch all of those in a row right now.

Rovin - 2011-06-13

I'm right there with you.

spiteful crow - 2011-06-13

A bazillion stars for the tagline of the movie at 4:58.

Did I see two completely different movies about killer microwaves in there?

snothouse - 2011-06-13

That knock-off H. R. Giger knock-off skull really got some mileage.

snothouse - 2011-06-13

Slumber Party Massacre is .95?!?

FABIO - 2011-06-13

As a kid I usually had more fun looking at all the covers in a video store than I ended up having with the actual movie I'd decide on.

MacGyver Style Bomb - 2011-06-13

Memories of the rental sections that were in all the supermarkets and grocery stores at the time. They didn't fuck around back then.

Mother_Puncher - 2011-06-13

Blood Diner's original box art looks a little different than the version I saw. The one I saw had that fucking weird puppet thing as a cartoon smoking a joint.

A great reference point to add to my horror film watchlist but it also made me realize how uncreative death metal bands are. This video alone contains albums/songs titles and band names everywhere.

sosage - 2011-06-14

I can just smell the cigarette smoke and feel the heavily used cardboard sleeves.

Video Dead, btw, is deserving of a POETV bad movie night multi-submission.

Toenails - 2011-06-14

Maybe a Video Dead/Video Violence double feature?

MagickPoultry - 2011-06-14

"Stuff Stephanie in the Incinerator."

dododge - 2011-06-19

I think I have that on Laserdisc somewhere, with the same artwork.

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-06-14

I own so many of these, PROUDLY.

chumbucket - 2011-06-14

Impressed

Burnov - 2011-06-14

I saw Black Roses when I was in my early teens, it was bad... reallly bad.

It was a bunch of demons who wanted to do something and apparently that involved forming a highschool heavy metal band.

I still remember the song that was written for the movie... absolutely terrible, but it carries with it good memories.

Burnov - 2011-06-14

I also recall an old movie that had something to do with "psychopathic clown murderers" from the 80s that I saw in some reduced to clear movies in the mid 90s.

The only thing about it that really caught my eye was their tagline, which was: "They laugh, they cry, they fight, THEY DIE!"

sosage - 2011-06-14

Killer Klowns from Outer Space?

Paracelsus - 2011-06-14

Nostalgia for the vanishing video rental store. I never rented or watched this kind of stuff, not my thing, but when the girlfriend was making up her damn mind on a video I'd pick them up and look them over just to gauge in my mind how bad they probably were.

Big Muddy - 2011-06-14

Really showed her huh? Those places were the shit brah!

Paracelsus - 2011-06-14

There really wasn't any animosity involved, she just liked to window shop a hell of a lot, and since we had agreed upon...oh, wait. You intended irony. Well done. I look forward to your future efforts in the same vein.

apiaryist - 2011-06-14

Loved these as a kid. Usually in a gas station next to the trucker hats and jerky. I go to a place now called I Luv Video where they have most of these on VHS. The Black Roses cover is 3-dimensional.

Toenails - 2011-06-14

Did I miss Dr. Giggles? I didn't see Dr. Giggles anywhere in the video. A greatest horror movie VHS cover video list is just a regular old horror movie VHS cover video list without Dr. Giggles!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104139/taglines

Them are some damn fine tag lines, Dr. Giggles.

kingofthenothing - 2011-06-14

I went as Dr. Giggles for Halloween one year. Most of the houses I went to didn't seem to get it.

pyslexic dharmacist - 2013-10-15

Not sure how they missed Dr. Giggles or Jack Frost, or why they included the original 13 Ghosts but not the remake, which is arguably much creepier.

big pincers - 2011-06-14

these were great, but I wish they had this one with a zombie coming out of a manhole. I used to run past it and steal a quick glance when I was a kid.

Banal Intercourse - 2011-06-15

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2011-06-16

There's a Critters 2???

The cover to The Stuff still creeps me out.

thirteen3seven - 2011-06-18

Seeing these bring back a lot of memories. Like everyone else here, when I was young I made my way to the horror section to ogle the covers. I finally stopped when one day I was creeped out so bad I had to run out of the store and vomit (I was five at the time).

I'm pretty sure it was the cover to Carrie, which was pretty tame, all things considered.

dododge - 2011-06-19

The Alien Factor!? Wow, that's an obscure one. Shot in Baltimore on no budget and co-starring the local "creature feature" host in a dramatic role. I seem to recall him running it as the creature feature movie one weekend and appearing to be extremely embarrassed about it.

Billy the Poet - 2011-06-27

I have seen a preposterously high percentage of these.

MoviePalaceOfBlood - 2015-08-27

Glad you all enjoyed the video. I'm the original creater, MoviePalaceOfBlood. I've posted the sequel I made to this video here featuring nearly 400 covers!
