Oscar Wildcat - 2011-06-03

Is it just me? Or does she seem loaded on oxycontin. I smell some serious junkie here...

Grandmaster Funk - 2011-06-03

Definitely something going on. The usual Palin ramble is manic and intense. This was way too loose and sloppy. Definitely on something, and she's clearly in the prescription drug demographic.

IrishWhiskey - 2011-06-03

Before she came across as flustered because everyone expected her to be articulate and informed, and she couldn't do it.

Now she knows she can be rich and famous without having to understand anything. In fact, it's part of her appeal. Katie Couric can screw off, Palin's got reporters panting after her bus like dogs. Next time she's asked about the Bush Doctrine, she can confidently ramble about God and family, knowing that her ignorance doesn't mean a thing to the Republican base or the next hundred-thousand dollar paycheck she receives.

Oscar Wildcat - 2011-06-03

I think it's nothing more complicated than the fact that with her new found wealth, she can afford more expensive pharmaceuticals than the crappy bathtub meth she bought from Levi's mom.

Smellvin - 2011-06-03

Palin probably would be running and MS operating system.

The Mothership - 2011-06-03

you might be right, Oscar; the first thing that came to my mind was 'word salad'.

sosage - 2011-06-04

...because PalinBot wants to run industry standard applications. There is no freeware Linux equivalent of TalkingPoint anyways.

charmlessman - 2011-06-04

TalkingPoint is malware.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2011-06-03

And this is what's currently in the lead to get the GOP nomination for president? Is this what it's come to, Republicans? You can say things that make you look like you learned history from being beaten with a social studies textbook as a kid, but as long as you say stuff about God, guns, and tax cuts, you're a shoo-in?

Normally, I'd love this news, but since people were stupid enough to elect George W. Bush twice... it's more frightening than funny.

IrishWhiskey - 2011-06-03

At Mt. Vernon she discussed how hard Washington himself worked to keep his farm going, yet was willing to sacrifice it to serve the people, as an incredibly unsubtle way of framing her own run: http://bit.ly/jeYItL

Its not that she's wrong, it's that she casts facts and logic away with deliberate effort, as impediments to her fame and financial success.

jangbones - 2011-06-03

Mitt's in the lead.

In a normal year Mormon Mitter would be on the bubble, but with the cast of characters he is up against it would take a miracle to deny him the nomination now.

I mean, do you seriously think Republicans would ever nominate a woman or a black man for president of the USA?

Cena_mark - 2011-06-03

Jangbones... you get -5 stars for that comment. That ol' "Republicans are all racist and sexist" bullshit. Republicans already nominated a woman for VP. And Before Obama became president the highest offices held by blacks were due to W.
Kleenex: Yeah like Gore and Kerry were better.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2011-06-03

Cena, Gore and Kerry could form coherent thoughts and express them verbally. Many other Republicans can do the same, except for some reason, they're not willing to dive into crazy-go-nuts "Jesus loves guns and tax cuts for the rich" land. I'd gladly say without hesitation that Al Gore, John Kerry, Howard Dean, and several other failed presidential candidates are far more qualified than Sarah Palin. She's quite obviously not fit to run a McDonald's, much less a state or the country.

Cena_mark - 2011-06-03

Well of course Sarah Palin sucks, and she won't get anywhere near the nomination. I guarantee it.
W wasn't anywhere near as stupid as her. Sure he'd get tongue tied here and there, but his thinking process was spot on.
Sadly I don't think Mitt can win the nomination as too many Evangelicals would refuse to vote for a Mormon.

Senator_Unger - 2011-06-03

Yeah, all those stupid Democrats did was nominate a qualified woman for the Vice Presidency a quarter-century before the Republicans found this little gem to run with McCain to make him look like a competent, reasonable leader in comparison.

Cena_mark - 2011-06-03

Whatever. They threw her to the wolves with Mondale. They knew they couldn't beat Reagan anyways.

Senator_Unger - 2011-06-03

Nothing more completely sums up the phrase "I am a petulant child who has lost an argument" than "whatever".

Lurchi - 2011-06-03

hmmmm....

themilkshark - 2011-06-03

This is not the greatest country in the world. It might be the absolute stupidest though.

StanleyPain - 2011-06-03

Did you know that every single major figure in American history was only concerned with guns and making sure freedom is free? IT'S TRUE AND A FACT-VERIFIED FACT THING!

ez - 2011-06-03

don't forget ringing bells...

Jesus christ....how does someone like this become a major political figure? This lady somehow hit the life lottery, and it is still not enough for her?

spikestoyiu - 2011-06-03

Even if you were desperate and stupid enough to claim that she's technically correct in that the colonists were British subjects (I'm sure some PATRIOT on YouTube has already done this), what possible excuse could you come up with for the rest of it?

Cena_mark - 2011-06-03

Well he warned the British by warning the colonists. The colonists shot guns which the Brits heard along with the bell and they were warned.

That's the best I can do to salvage her statement.

StanleyPain - 2011-06-03

The Revolutionary Way was entirely about the right to bear arms. As is pretty much every pivotal event in US history.

Cena_mark - 2011-06-03

The Revolution was about freedom from tyrants. So yes, a lot of it was about guns.

CIWB - 2011-06-04

The Revolution was about American colonists not wanting to be taxed to pay for their protection from Indian attacks without representation in the British Parliament.

"Tyranny" is kinda hyperbole. A third of the colonists wanted to remain British subjects. The leaders of the revolution tried and tried again to join their "tyrannical" British government, it was only when they were rebuffed over and over that they decided to split from the Crown.

It wasn't even much of "revolution", at least when compared to true revolutions like the French and Russian ones, where the old political, cultural and religious order were completely overthrown and replaced. It was more like a second British civil war. The founding fathers were successful and respected British subjects before the revolution, and they were successful and respected American citizens after.

Banal Intercourse - 2011-06-06

Wait! Cena, I get you man, but what are you doing here? Are you saying there WERE bells? Or there WERE shots fired in Boston? Or are you just... what? Trying to be sympathetic to Palin because you're on "her side"?

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-06-03

America doesn't deserve to be a superpower.

sosage - 2011-06-04

Some might say these are the luxuries of being a super power. Hilarious, depressing luxuries.
