What about him?

Seriously, he doesn't make poeTV any worse than the rest of us.

Although I do fault him for taking on the name of the worst mixed drink that features my favorite liquor.

spikestoyiu - 2011-05-13

Oh, so you guys hate him now?

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-05-13

All the cool kids stop liking something or someone after a set amount of time.

CornOnTheCabre - 2011-05-13

i still like him, pretty sure I've seen every single one of his reviews.

then again I'm not very cool :,(

Five for Yahtzee.

I agree it's lost the surprise factor, and some sections are padded.

But you know what? It's funnier, the puzzles are better and more inventive, and you get a whole co-op campaign on top of a bigger single player. I'd agree with "Portal was better in its time, and so gets better scores", but not "Portal 2 isn't as good as Portal".

Crunch time at the circle factory.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2011-05-13

portal 2 was excellent. The comedy, puzzles, level design etc. was all great but while playing I didnt feel it was a cohesive whole. The various elements felt like they had been crammed slightly awkwardly into the same game.
I thought portal one was a masterpiece as it had reached the stage where nothing could have been removed without ruining it, though I think yahtzees punnet of cherries and sawdust is a bit harsh, I'd say a great big punnet of cherries, jelly babies and mints. all nice things individually but not sure about mixing them together.

I'd say that's about as fair a comment about the game as you will ever find. 5 ghost stars for you Mr. Purple.

That sounds like a scene out of Gravity's Rainbow, or a drink I'd make you.

The only part of this review I really agreed with were those padded areas that were in between puzzles. I was able to figure out the puzzles all on my own throughout the course of the game, but I was forced to consult a guide no less than 4 times when I could not find that little patch of white wall that could shoot me to the platform ahead.

But, I think Yahtzee is completely offbase here. Portal 1 was incredible, but when you take the whole of the two games it's almost pathetically easy. There are only like 4 REAL puzzles in the game, the rest are just basically a tutorial that we accepted and loved because the concept was so fresh and invigorating. Portal 2 has great puzzles out the ass, and I would take almost every single puzzle in Act 3 of the second game over anything from the first. The only thing that the first game has over the second is that incredible final sequence, which Portal 2 tries to recreate several times, but never quite gets it. The last boss fight is even better though.

I actually liked the bits between puzzles. But then I'm an avid sightseer when I play games, I really love just standing around looking at the eye candy.
