I was going to say that I only remembered this from Monty Python, but it looks like the tags have me covered.

The Mothership - 2011-05-11

yea, pretty much. I'm not old enough to have watched this on telly, but thanks to my dad's pirated vhs library I managed to learn most MP sketches by heart.

This is a BBC show...

I mean one of the whole premises it works on is that it's aired on BBC.

YES. Count Duckula is the first thing I always think of too... that or Danger Mouse.

This was my version of the V of Doom. When I was a really little kid, a few years before my father's death, he liked to watch World At War, a British documentary TV show on World War 2. First they'd show the Thames logo, then they'd have tragic music, show flames and grainy pictures of peoples' faces, then the picture would be burned in the flames. Pretty scary stuff for a little kid. I always associate the Thames intro with that feeling.

I had to go look up the Count Duckula theme because hearing this without immediately hearing someone say "Castle DUCKULA!" afterward just felt wrong.

Burnov - 2011-05-11

My dad, being from the UK used to watch Coronation Street every sunday morning so I was very well acquainted with this as a kid.

Also Rumpole and the Bailey.

I'm sure there were plenty of others.

My mum, being Australian but secretly wishing she was British, watched Are You Being Served and Keeping Up Appearances religiously. When I got older I kept watching after she went to bed and got introduced to the joys of Pthon and tits, er, I mean Benny Hill
