not shown: gabe's collection of forks, spoons

Aelric - 2011-04-16

Chet seems to hate this part of his job.

Wander - 2011-04-16

Wouldn't you?

Baldr - 2011-04-16

I'll never get tired of watching Chet hate. All of his facial expressions when the other guy is talking are wonderful.

Chet - 2011-04-16

I actually like those guys and like showing people around - just really, really tired (just got back from Europe) and during transition there is nothing we can show except empty offices.

How tired am I? The google bing building? The google bing building? Shoot me.

Baldr - 2011-04-16

Oh.

Sorry.

Tom Collins - 2011-04-16

I take it you'd drunk about ten of those little bottles on the jet.

Oktay - 2011-04-16

Hey, I thought that was supposed to be a joke! I even laughed.

Sputum - 2011-04-17

I'm suddenly really embarrassed knowing you actually read the bullshit we say here.

Corman's Inferno - 2011-04-16

-5 for the dull interviewer, +10 for the Jay Pinkerton cameo.

Aelric - 2011-04-16

Davis is fucking hilarious on their podcast, but socially awkward and sweaty outside of his own office.

Millard - 2011-04-16

And to be fair, it's an office walkthrough. People always think of game development houses as being full of waterslides and nerf battles, but I've been in a few and they're generally pretty dull. Nice (especially Blizzard's campus), but dull.

fatatty - 2011-04-16

For a website host I actually thought he did really well, especially considering it was a boring office walk through.

ItsAboutTime - 2011-04-16

Agreed Aelric! Out of his comfort zone things get awwwkwardddd (same goes for Gerstmann), but these guys know that and don't take themselves too seriously. Their humor is always intelligent and civilized; very unique in the "gaming press".

sosage - 2011-04-16

Waterslides...no. But there is always a guy on the team obsessed with weapons and cutlery.

phalsebob - 2011-04-16

I knew there were no waterslides and nerf battles, but I wasn't expecting everyone to be wearing pants. PJ's at the most.

Well, maybe nerf battles, but definitely more bags of chips.

Chalkdust - 2011-04-16

we actually had a couple months where Nerf battles did break out regularly, at least in the support offices

Ersatz - 2011-04-16

I'm confused as to how anyone thought this would be visually interesting, or that there would be a place "where the magic happens." They're making video games. That involves people sitting quietly at a computer typing or in a conference room discussing minutiae. That's the magic.
It's an office job with a neat end result. That's all.

baleen - 2011-04-16

All those blades make me miss my last job.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2011-04-16

I see Gabe is a big fan of ColdSteel weaponry.

Chalkdust - 2011-04-16

would a "King of the Demo" tag be gauche?

K. Brass - 2011-04-16

That empty office is where Half-Life 3 is being developed.

RealmOne - 2011-04-16

The pre-renovation Valve offices were my security officer brush with greatness. I patrolled the main floor and the satellite offices, and I looked forward to it. Least this video answers one question: Who in hell owned all those damned knives. All I ever wanted to do was kip a head-hugger hat. This video only shows a few pieces in the amazing art collection they have. Being a failed liberal arts hack, I never wanted to be able to do math more in my life so I could work here. And not wear polyester pants to work.

Modern Angel - 2011-04-16

Chet: Shave your face.

C. Eloi Marx - 2011-04-16

No, no. The scruff gives the illusion of a jaw line.

Cheese - 2011-04-16

Did I see a Dreamcast Magazine Half Life cover?

riedquat - 2011-04-17

Ha ha yes you did

That was a frustrating year

sosage - 2011-04-18

There was also an unreleased System Shock 2 DC game. Blue balls.

boner - 2011-04-17

Jay Pinkerton is alive.
