I heard there were plans to pass a law to make recording cops a federal crime due to a small number of these videos being faked. That's like saying we shouldn't report bomb threats because a few have been faked. What a cop does at home off duty is totally private but when he is in that uniform, everything he does like this is public domain. The saddest part is that fighting back constitutes assualt on an officer and would give the cop infinite advantages if this were taken to court.

5 stars for absolute rageworthy material.

So... fake?

Mother_Puncher - 2011-01-05

I thought that at first because of the rent-a-cop uniform, camera angle just out of view of the action, no cop car in sight and the girl sort of narrating the whole scenario as if it were strictly to make up for the lack of view of the actual beating.

Dinanukht - 2011-01-05

Yeah, everything you listed makes me think this is staged. Also: who the other dudes standing around? The suspect's buddies? A real cop would have made them get back in the vehicle or sit on the curb. He would never turn his back to a potential suspect.

You forgot the most obvious clue: the guy being beaten is white.

Quick Google search reveals that it's real: "To the untrained eye, a first viewing of the video of a local police officer beating a man with a baton in south St. Louis gives the impression that the officer is over the line, using excessive force."

According to the local paper the officer was off duty and was working as a security person at this gas station when this happened late on New Year's Eve.

I think the fact that the guy's friends seem resigned to what is happening probably indicates that he was up to some shenanigans before the camera started.

Also, if someone has grabbed hold of an officer's legs and refuses to let go, there are likely to be some ramifications for it.

Finally, on behalf of the St Louis RCGA I would like to ensure people that this type of incident is still largely reserved for the coloreds, so please still feel free to visit our fine city and go about your business.

Ocyrus - 2011-01-06

I wouldn't go to St. Louis if my life depended upon it. What a crap hole.

xavierthebunny - 2011-01-05

Either that guy is tough as shit or that cop is a fuckin' pansy...that many strikes with an asp and the guy is FINE?

chairsforcheap - 2011-01-05

either way the internet will always know you as a badass, so you can go die happy. Go, die.

Mike Jordan - 2011-01-06

It's a shame they weren't facing the opposite direction, having the Budweiser brewery in the background would have been good advertising for the city.

Gwago - 2011-01-06

CLOSE YOUR GODDAMN CAR DOORS PEOPLE

Tom Collins - 2011-01-06

Wow. What a cunt.

chumbucket - 2011-01-06

"we can sit here and watch this all day" fuck you

Ocyrus - 2011-01-06

How many dead cops will it take for them to start treating citizens with dignity?
Our American forefathers would be ashamed to call us Americans if we don't stand up and put an end to this BS once and for all.
If you see a cop doing this to another citizen, call 911 immediately to report police brutality. Get it on tape, and make sure that the cop is brought to justice.
There is no room for police brutality in America, and any cop that engages in this behavior needs to be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
If your local laws protect the cops, then go to the FBI.

Anaxagoras - 2011-01-06

But the youtube comments clearly state that cops are human just like us, and if you insult one you shouldn't be surprised if you get beat down.

Also, the comments also inform me that the punk probably had it coming, so relax citizen! This is completely normal & the way things should be.

phalsebob - 2011-01-06

Well, cops are just like the average person, and if you insult one you might get a beatdown. And like everyone else they should do 10 years in prison for it.

Mother_Puncher - 2011-01-06

Youtube posters are always the more intelligent and thoughtful people! Why, it must have been Thursday last when I gazed yonder to spy a young man defending rapper Eminem's music by saying "SHUT UP FAGGOT GET LAID YOU TINY DICK" when clearly the fellow he was directing this towards was simply expressing his opinion! Truth be told, the law are people too. If an officer is offended, he should be able to defend his honor by any means. If he is low on greenbacks, he should sell the dope he takes from people. If he has a bad day, take it out by beating a fellow pulled for a traffic violation. People are people where ever you go! I hope you learned something here!

knowless - 2011-01-07

that kid in omaha, had respect for the law, he shot and murdered his principal, but the unarmed security he had reverence for, cause the gun he used was stolen from his cop father, that man he let live.

there are several things wrong with this video, not the least of which being the second swing of the baton. and also it not being stopped.
