Did they hire the composer to score the movie or to make fun of it?
That was pretty rad.
This entire movie was improvised, using sets from another Corman E.A. Poe schlockfest while they were being dismantled That pansy girly boy up in the balcony is Jack Nicholson, son of one of the producers, in an early role
The Nicholsons owned a chain of drive-in theaters in the Seattle area, it was their bright idea to produce a bunch of movies on the cheap, and Jack Nicholson was invited in to play the pretty boy parts. AND THUS THE SHIP WAS LAUNCHED.
Another example is "The Terror," a movie also quickly made reusing sets and props from another production.
I'm pretty sure it was 'The Terror' that was improvised using the actors and sets from this movie.
