And unfortunately, the "noisemakers for children" reputation has been very hard for them to shake as they try to get back into serious musical instruments. The Privia series are actually VERY GOOD digital pianos (IMO better than Yamaha and nearly as good as Roland), but because they're made by Casio, people assume they're just going to be cheap shit with lighting-effect keys and a one-touch Toy Symphony button and whatever.
Monophonic as opposed to polyphonic (number of simultaneous notes) versus any sort of actual stereophonic sound.
Bascially four independent oscillators (sine, sawtooth, square), though you could combine oscillators for a more complex sound. (Actually, now that I think about it, it was four note polyphony when you combined; otherwise you could get up to 8!! simultaneous notes.)
