That poor woman.

dek863 - 2010-06-21

Fuck. Need to create an active tag..."Evidence for the need of Universal Healthcare".

Riskbreaker - 2010-06-21

"Evidence for the obama concentration camps"

So if she had shattered the bone, what would they have done for her? Would they have given her an artificial shoulder or simply amputated the whole arm?

THA SUGAH RAIN - 2010-06-21

She should have been committed for mental illness. No reasonable person shoots herself.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2010-06-22

No reasonable first world country lets its healthcare system get hijacked by insurance companies, either.

Don't have insurance?

Fauquier Health.

Jet Bin Fever - 2010-06-22

Nope, nothing is wrong with our health care system...
Or wait... Let's say something IS wrong but then claim that the market will work to secure people basic human rights, because we know how well markets respond to human rights... you know, the slave trade and all that.

phalsebob - 2010-06-22

Hey... if she goes to prison for firing a weapon within city limits, she might have her arm taken care of. Looks like the system works just fine.

kingarthur - 2010-06-22

So, to make sure I'm following this correctly: she's going to jail for trying to get health care?

Also, to respond to the mental health question: she's stable and likely has no insurance or medicare/medicaid meaning it is highly unlikely any hospital would keep her beyond a 72 hour hold, if even that long, unless she intended suicide, and she's lucid enough to have taken precautions that a health care system under the free market would be willing to gloss over as non-suicidal. Tl;dr: she's out the door as soon as she's ambulatory. Gotta put money in those beds, people.
