Don't let the XKCD guy see this video otherwise we will get another terrible comic that doesn't make any sense that some how references this device.
This machine should be the size of a skyscraper and be charged with the sole purpose of counting the moments of existence.
Or maybe just a calculator capable of long division.

Lasers were theoretical devices until after Alan Turing's suicide. The first practical laser was demonstrated in 1960, and Turing killed himself in 1954.
