For whatever reason, I've never liked this movie much, but this is a damn good scene.
The line doesn't work half as well without Wilder's impeccable comic timing in response.
Wilder may be the best screen comedian who ever was. It's a shame he doesn't do much now.
The movie is a framework to set up great reaction shots.
When Gilda Radner died, it just broke his heart and he pretty much stopped acting. I get the feeling Feldman was at the top of his game when he died.
It's hard to believe that Teri Garr was that good looking
Now you gotta just close your eyes and think of her in her better days. It's really more like a chore, honestly.
She was still pretty when "Close Encounters" came out.
Not the best scene from the movie, but it's Mel Brooks at his height, so have these 4 stars.
What helps make the scene is the way he just goes back to eating, as if he hadn't said anything.
I really liked this movie.
