If only the rest of this show was as funny.

manfred - 2009-06-29

this is a funny show

fluffy - 2009-06-29

In retrospect this show seems like it was the template for Family Guy.

zatojones - 2009-06-29

I didn't count one pop culture reference in that clip

Spastic Avenger - 2009-06-29

It's certainly better animated (as in it moves for a reason) and the character designs are actually semi-attractive.

Cleaner82 - 2009-06-29

THIS IS JUST LIKE THE TIME BILLY MAYS PAID FOR A HOSPITAL

Xenocide - 2009-06-29

The difference is that Critic works its pop culture gags into the plot instead of just dropping them in at random. Also, most of the time they're actually funny.

thebaronsdoctor - 2009-06-29

Family Guy is basically the Simpsons and the Critic stripped of any wit or timing. It is the product of a man who grew up doing nothing but watching reruns of crappy 80s sitcoms.

The Critic is funny.

StanleyPain - 2009-06-29

Except the Critic was funny and didn't continually rely on trying to be "offensive" or vulgar as it's crutch. Watching it now, yeah, it seems like maybe there were a few too many pop culture gags, but the gags worked, good or bad.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2009-06-29

I think this was much funnier, as it had clips that made me laugh. Actually, just one clip that makes me laugh is enough to separate it from Family Guy.

SolRo - 2009-06-30

these are what, 15 years removed from modern pop-culture and are still funny?

Also; raptors with english accents

Syd Midnight - 2009-07-01

The pop culture gag is that Duke is the definitive Ted Turner parody

fluffy - 2009-12-27

I didn't say they followed the template WELL.

Jet Bin Fever - 2009-06-29

I thought it was pretty terrible when it came out, but Family Guy makes it look amazzzzinng by comparison.

ASubmarineSandwich - 2009-06-29

Nope. This show was always this good.

Also, penguins can't fly.

Xenocide - 2009-06-29

Take THAT, Birth of Man!

Harold Manchester - 2009-06-29

WINTER'S COMING.

mashedtater - 2009-06-29

youd better horde your nuts, little squirrel.

Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2009-06-29

Too slow and obvious, like the animated version of Clerks.

Camonk - 2009-06-29

Still funnier than any Futurama post, say, season 2.

I SAID IT

Innocent Bystander - 2009-06-29

You know who's slow and obvious?

YOU!

Rudy - 2009-06-29

Everything on TV nowadays is just a rip-off of Fish Police.

Redlof - 2009-06-29

All cartoons are great, they're all great, every single one.

Except Family Guy.

Keefu - 2009-06-29

Futurama's first season was the weakest and the Critic is a decent show.

mashedtater - 2009-06-30

i dunno this show won because of the gentleness of the jokes.

RomancingTrain - 2009-07-06

You said it, you can' unsay it!

Nikon - 2009-06-29

The show had its moments, but I felt it was uneven. If only the jokes (and they were good when they worked) had been spread out better ...

charmlessman - 2009-06-29

And then he punched Andy Dick.

Ahhh... good times.

Jefka - 2009-06-29

From what I vaguely remember, Lovitz smacked Andy Dick's head into the bar because Dick threatened to "put the 'curse of Phil Hartman' on him". Seriously.

charmlessman - 2009-06-29

Yes, I know. But a full description of the event doesn't have the same comic impact.

memedumpster - 2009-06-29

I liked this show and, yes, it was better than Family Guy, which I also like.

Chalkdust - 2009-06-29

Better times, they were.

glasseye - 2009-06-29

Good stuff.

Aelric - 2009-06-29

Duke and Franklin made this show great.

Man Who Fights Like Woman - 2009-07-03

This was a great show.
