I didn't consciously realize that this wasn't Prince until just now.

godot - 2009-06-08 Jam and Lewis (both of The Time, a band with strong Prince ties) produced, so its part of the Prince "cloud", with the Time, Sheila E. Sheena Easton, Apollonia 6, and the J&L productions like 80s Janet Jackson, Alexander O'Neal etc. Minneapolis was argably the most important burg in pop for 3 or so years.
The root of all of this was probably Lipps, Inc., which first brought the Minneapolis sound to the larger public with "Funkytown", way back in 1979.

godot - 2009-06-08 And guess what, I'm wrong. Actually produced by Bernard Terry and Charles Brown, Jr. (obviously in the mold of Prince, and about Sheila E.). And not Minneapolis, but Flint, Michigan.

godot - 2009-06-10 But two days ago, I would have bet a finger that this was a Jam & Lewis production.
