The 80's were just a bad fucking time for everything. Christ...

Camonk - 2009-04-29

We can't pretend comedy has gotten any better.

chumbucket - 2009-04-29

so who got the credit for murdering the blue dress chick? give them a medal

Hugo Gorilla - 2009-04-29

I think that's Laurie Metcalf.

StanleyPain - 2009-04-29

I went to a comedy club a few years ago with some free tickets I got (long story) and it was the most horrible depressing night of my life (well, at least one of them). The comedy was EXACTLY like this, person after person. I didn't expect genius level comedy, but I figured MAYBE the 80s was fucking over in comedy clubs.....it isn't. One guy's act consisted SOLELY of making fun of people's names and what their jobs were, yet he seemed to be relatively successful judging by the audience.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2009-04-29

Actually I'm interested in how you got the free tickets. Go on please.

StanleyPain - 2009-04-29

It's not very exciting. My girlfriend at the time worked at a call center and her dept. won a prize for some contest (you know, the usual call center bullshit of FASTEST TIMES or BEST REVIEWS) and the prize was the whole dept got free tickets to a show at a local comedy club for themselves and one other person. They were all kinda the people that have worked in tech call support too long and thought things like User Friendly and Dilbert were the cutting edge of humor.

B_Ko - 2009-09-20

You're right, that wasn't very exciting at all.

zatojones - 2009-04-29

80s comedy was all about sports coats with the sleeves rolled up

boner - 2009-04-29

Would you believe one of those people created Freaks and Geeks, has directed Arrested Development and is a producer of The Office?

Testicles of Doom - 2009-04-29

When I saw Paul's name I thought "WHAAAA?"

5 stars for 1 second of Feig.

TeenerTot - 2009-04-29

The best comedians in the 80's did coke. So every shlub comedian felt they had to try to ACT like they were on coke.
That's my theory.

baleen - 2009-04-29

No, that's the actual sound of coke happening right there.

KnowFuture - 2009-04-29

....and these are the ones who made it onto TV....

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-04-29

stand-up comedy was created to punish mankind for some long-forgotten sin.

themilkshark - 2009-04-29

At least we have Daniel Songer now.

Rudy - 2009-04-29

HA TAKE THAT SUPERCUTS!

BHWW - 2009-04-29

The stand-up comedy boom's inevitable bust should have put lots of hacks like this out of business, and it did. But still, more arose to take their places and others survived with the tenacity of a cockroach.

Jellyneck - 2009-04-29

What's with all the hate for standup? I've seen some hilarious acts, and even the shitty ones came with liquor and a date.

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-05-05

I think my standards are too high to let me date a woman who'd go to a comedy club.

citrusmirakel - 2009-05-27

But how else will your potential mate learn that there are, in fact, differences between men and women? Of some these differences may actually be HILARIOUS!

IrishWhiskey - 2009-06-11

Is it me or does Mustache Guy sound a lot like Tom Hanks?

McGillistabby - 2010-02-11

I like to think the audience was just being polite.

Billy the Poet - 2011-05-30

That made me feel unwell.
