Great film. People flung around like nobodies business.

IrishWhiskey - 2009-02-20

I've you haven't seen it, I'd advise watching the movie before the clip. If you don't plan on watching the movie, then you can watch it only if feeling an overwhelming sense of remorse while doing so.

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-02-20

It wasn't that bad until the monster realized how good people taste.

Millard - 2009-02-20

I'm not a big fan of movies where the hero is a schlubby nobody who kind of remains a schlubby nobody until the end of the movie. One of the reasons I hated Nightwatch, too. It's also a little too "America's ignorance causes problems in the rest of the world", which is a fine and honest statement, but still annoying to see in a movie.

Still, people got ate.

Michael Houser - 2009-02-20

Wow, the reasons you dislike it are the reasons I love it.
What's wrong with a schlub saving the day? Is he supposed to transform into some kind of bad-ass by the end? And I love when other countries portray Americans with the same kind of evil-foreigner angle that we've done to them. It's hilarious!

And the monster is way better than the stupid Cloverfield whatsit. Infinitely more plausible for simply not being a dozen stories tall (and still capable of sneaking up on that idiot at the end).

GREAT MOVIE.

Species - 2009-02-20

It wasn't "great", but it was way better than Cloverfield. For sure.

Cleaner82 - 2009-02-20

These are strange and alien reasons to dislike a movie.

Aelric - 2009-02-21

I can dig a nobody being the hero, but this guy was a little too much of a blubbering moron to stand for the long takes they had on this character. I mean, you can express distraught and maddening sadness without becoming a Kurosawa peasant (I love Kurosawa, but Jesus, the blubbering peasants!).

TeenerTot - 2009-02-21

I'm with Houser & company here.
I love the ambiguousness of the comedy/horror in this movie, whether derived from the purposeful writing or a mistranslation of ethnic mores.
If I laugh, then think "Oh, should I be laughing at that?" it's all good.

Like the dramatic wailing at the mass funeral scene.

robotkarateman - 2009-02-20

Really, was it any more preposterous than the Cloverfield monster?

Also, the rampage scene is 20 minutes long. 20 minutes of monstery goodness - eating people, charging through hotdog cards, and just generally making a mess of things. It's awesome. Too bad the movie's awesomeness decreases more rapidly the further you get from this scene.

Camonk - 2009-02-21

That's pretty much every Korean movie ever: there is one awesome scene, and the movie is rad as it builds toward it. Then after that totally wicked scene is a long, slow slide toward a let-down ending.

Aelric - 2009-02-21

Umm, Park Chan Wook's stuff? Spider Forest? Charisma? Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...and Spring? Maybe you've seen more than I, but Ive been impressed by the majority of movies coming out of Korea for the past few years.

Vicious - 2009-02-20

I remember riding those things in Golden Axe.

Also, is this supposed to be a comedy? A lot of these shots imply it was supposed to be funny.

IrishWhiskey - 2009-02-20

Its horror/comedy,

kingarthur - 2009-02-20

Awesome movie. Also, poor Donald. The only kind American in the film and he got ate trying to save hundreds of Koreans he didn't even know.

vissarion - 2009-02-20

Look out, Donald!

Stopheles - 2009-02-20

The creature design looks a hell of a lot more mutated than most.

rustedmutt - 2009-02-20

GREAT critter design. Pretty much the best scene in the movie... the footage showing the beastie swinging along under bridges was neat, too.

Hooker - 2009-02-20

This is the only good CGI monster film.

Chalkdust - 2009-02-20

NO TRUMPETS

FangoftheCobras - 2009-02-21

Brave, brave monster snack.

Camonk - 2009-02-21

They were litterers. They plainly all deserved it. Except for Donald. Monster shouldn't eat a white dude!

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2009-02-21

The love the hell out of the monster in this.

Lies, lies, LIES! - 2009-04-28

I love the way this movie could jam horror, comedy, and tragedy into the same scene. I'd like to see more of that.

Riskbreaker - 2010-09-18

I like how the movie is already breaking cliches right there. When the people lock themselves and leave a poor woman outside the monster ignores the woman and goes straight where all that people is.

Robin Kestrel - 2016-07-08

Bong Joon-ho.
