Sorry, Jack. You've been dead fifteen years now, and we still haven't come up with anything better.

followup/beard: the two biggest changes/developments in comics in the last 15-20 years are the change from writing single-issue contained stories to writing for full-length trade paperbacks (most of the people I know who read comics pick up the trades) and the rise of webcomics, which are essentially the new vanity press. For every Penny Arcade or Achewood or other successful comic, there are a hundred (thousand) Keenspot abortions that produced four strips and then were abandoned.

Yeah but if it weren't for vanity press comics we wouldn't have Jack Chick

Mister Miracle was a awesome comic.

Kirby dots are cool

I got to interview The King myself back in '92.

He was an amazingly gracious guy. Also, incredibly down to earth when you realize that he created the cosmic universes for both Marvel and DC.

And he shared an office with Stan Lee for years, which would likely make anyone crazier than a pile of crazy on Pile of Crazy Day.

Jack Kirby out Morrisoned Morrison years before he was even born.
