in this episode he had some kind of weird electrified metal knuckles, so he could hold his own against the super baddies, I guess.

One of his teammates is a guy who's super power is that he's really wealthy and does a lot of pushups. He just wants Batman to feel like he's doing well.

In all fairness, I'm not even sure how aware Superman is of the upper limits of his own power. He has to hold back so constantly that He probably hasn't had much room to experiment.
