having windows is so over rated anyways, I mean who wants to look outside when theres work to do.

that's a lot of pieces of flare

and a giant waste of money/electricity

Actually, if they were solar panels or other kind of heat traps, it would be useful by reducing the amount of AC required to keep the building comfy and would probably generate enough power to light up the interior.

So it's like thr jumbotron.
Man that looks so expensive.

As a business owner, I know how hard it is to spend vast amounts of disposeable income, especially in these economic times. Thank god somebody has finally found a way to waste huge amounts of cash quickly and needlessly.

Beautiful. Now, make it advertise McDonalds and the new Will Smith movie 24/7.

"FLARE turns the building facade into a penetrable kinetic membrane."

I think their best use would be to deflect light and keep the building cool, and to do so dynamically and whilst providing moving shadows.

Of course, trees and water provide much the same effect, and some would argue to a better and more aesthetic degree.

BTW: so far as I know you put them in front of windows and you can get a reasonable view between the gaps. There are similar systems on the market, and they're usually about shade and not constantly being in motion. I guess the innovation here is the display aspect.

That rockette is drunk...fire her ass! What, there's another??

This isn't the sort of thing you'd put in a building you own...you'd put it in a building you rent. You could probably get the money back if there was enough demand. Plus, isn't the building shown an art gallery? It's not like they're meant to be altars to practicality.

Once I realized that it wasn't a render I was fairly amazed.
