OW!!!
Just goes to show, she was out of tune with everyone back then too.

baleen - 2008-10-01

Can this woman get any scarier or whiter.

Mayberry Pancakes - 2008-10-01

For somebody who supposedly admires James Galway so much you think she'd do something even remotely difficult. Her tone is great, but come on. That's like ten notes.

charmlessman - 2008-10-01

Her tone was g....
NO.
Her tone was AWFUL. She was playing at a 5th grade level. Seriously.

IrishWhiskey - 2008-10-01

I was going to call you too harsh.... until the midpoint of the video.

2:06 is not a note meant for the human ear.

Mayberry Pancakes - 2008-10-01

Okay, confession time: I didn't listen all the way through. You're right, whatever is happening at 2:06 probably caused a tidal wave somewhere.

But I don't think her tone is that bad. The piece itself is at a fifth-grade level, definitely, but I think her tone is better than that. Seventh-grade, maybe. It's a bit hard to hear over the (deliberately?) loud backing track.

Bort - 2013-07-25

That backing track sounds like a ninth grade band to me, down in the orchestra pit. Sarah's flute work is probably best described as "unremarkable"; as displays of talent go, this was like showing off one's ability to mop.

As a sorbet for my ears, I had to listen to one of Ian Anderson's "Bourree" recordings:

I wouldn't expect Sarah Palin to have the technical proficiency of Ian Anderson, but what stands out to me is how her chosen piece is so completely dull, lifeless, and (as Mayberry Pancakes noted) unchallenging. It doesn't even suggest that she has a sense of music beyond playing simple notes in the right order. It's like she had nothing to demonstrate in the way of talent, but she played flute in eighth grade, so she went with that.

Would rather see Ian Anderson in a swimsuit than listen to Sarah Palin.

Russia will no doubt be terrified by this imposing figure.

Lauritz Melchior - 2008-10-01

Putin is no doubt boasting about how Medvyedev has the balls to look her in the eyes when she rears her ugly head.

cognitivedissonance - 2008-10-01

Man, it's a shame we've only got four weeks left of this shit. How the hell are we going to sample this cheese properly without the wine and water crackers of McCain and Fox News?

Too much Stilton destroys the palette...

*monocle pops off*

Spit Spingola - 2008-10-01

Hard to watch. Reminds me of a Tim & Eric bit or something.

Merzbau - 2008-10-01

the YAZ FLUTE

Aplsos - 2008-10-01

Sarah Palin SHREDS

kennydra - 2008-10-01

HAHAHA.

kennydra - 2008-10-01

This is what 10 years of practice got her????

simon666 - 2008-10-01

i'd like to see her play the skin flute

Dinky Patterson - 2008-10-01

When she stopped playing before the song ended I was hoping she'd throw in a few dance steps like this chick did in the middle of her performance:

Cleaner82 - 2008-10-02

Her daddy told her she could do anything, and left out the part about working at it.

rastarat - 2008-10-02

Where are these Palin church videos being leaked from? I would like to think a vindictive relative stole some VHS tapes and got them transferred.

Also I could swear she is cross eyed.

a flaming monkey - 2008-10-02

I'm all for undermining Palin, but the fact that she played a flute, no matter how badly, just doesn't bother me either way. To me, this is just a crappy home video.
