Back when this was produced, the other kids would probably beat you up for going. Today, it can pass as edgy if you're a scene kid.

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-08-31

This is, compared to most of what the Chipmunks have been responsible for, not that horrible.

Of course, I am saying that without knowing what the actual songs sound like.

codehappy - 2008-08-31

Caminante, the Chipmunks are quite clearly a generational curse. The kids who grew up with Witch Doctor and The Alvin Show in the sixties plopped their kids in front of the NBC cartoon in the eighties, and the kids who watched the Chipmunks in the eighties grew up to have their own kids in the naughts, and lo and behold now we have that new CGI abomination and a variety of DTV Chipmunks monstrosities.

If Biblical prophecy holds true this will continue for seven generations and then the Anti-Christ will appear (with a really squeaky voice).

Xenocide - 2008-08-31

Hey kids! Come watch a man in a mad scientist outfit have seizures!

DMKA - 2008-08-31

*imagines how Thriller must of sounded*

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-09-01

No, stop! DON'T!

dementomstie - 2008-09-01

OK, I admit it. I was a HUGE fan of Alvin when I was a kid. OK? There! I said it! I feel better for having admitted to it. True, part of me liked that they sang "Thriller" in funny voices but I like to think that I also recognized that "Alvin For President" was just an awesome song.
Having said all that, I totally saw this show as a kid. I barely remember it now, but I do remember "Thriller" with monster costumes and high squeaky voices and that it was basically Totally Awesome. Or whatever the 1986 version of "Awesome" was for a 6 year old.

codehappy - 2008-09-01

Supposedly, JFK agreed with you on the "Alvin For President" song.

codehappy - 2008-09-01

Five stars for the AMAZING COMPUTER, the pixellated breakdancing byte monsters (I'm making that name up because the real name is almost certainly a lot stupider) and some pretty horrifying Chipmunks costumes. Also, the mad scientist-looking character jerking around in that get-up gets me every time. SO AWESOME. That guy's probably like 50 years old now, I wonder if he ever thinks about this today?

And of course they promise a Chipmunk rendition of "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go". My mere mortal meat-brain can't really willingly comprehend that.

In case you had forgotten, the eighties were stupid.

robotkarateman - 2008-09-01

My 5 stars are for the horrifying 2-dimensional silhouette guys in the beginning.

And also because I saw Alvin & The Chipmunks live when I was a kid.

cognitivedissonance - 2008-09-01

I admit to liking Alvin and the Chipmunks as a kid. And I admit to now understanding why my parents hated them so much.

And every other incredible second of this video.

Emcee - 2008-09-01

I will bet you anything the guys doing the robot are for a Devo song.

Testicles of Doom - 2008-09-01

I never ever wanted to see any of these stage or ice productions aimed at kids.

Not Chipmunks, not Sesame Street, not Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles... well maybe Sesame Street.

Proud theater majors.
