If you think Joel McHale is bad you should watch some of the terrible cookie cutter shows that networks have come up with to try and copy "The Soup". One is on... I think Style Network? and it's hosted by Topanga from Boy Meets World. It's called "The Dish" The other is on Fox Reality Channel and it's hosted by a guy worse than Joel McHale on his worst day. I think it's called "Reality Wrap-up" or something.
And they both show the same clips as The Soup and they both have the same "stagehand laughter". The Soup is the only one where the laughter doesn't seem forced.
I miss John Henson and the lower production values. It had heart. This just has syrupy smarm on a waffle of flash cuts and green screen. As spiritually filling as a pop-tart.
It turns out this was the first implementation of a "bleep photo", or a picture they plan to put up whenever someone curses on the live television show. Which means... expect more awesome spaghetti cat.
