beyond words. or maybe i'm too lazy.

simon666 - 2008-07-23

ps - this guy reminds me of the "retarded" stand up comic guy that was posted here. i use retarded as a catch all because i cannot recall his specific condition.

Lindner - 2008-07-23

... did a man riding a fucking unicycle while solving a rubik's cube tell me to get a life?

Seriously?

Cleaner82 - 2008-07-23

I like how he comes in on a unicycle like Mr. Wacky and then lays right into the same bleak bullshit.

futurebot - 2008-07-23

"Don't you guys believe that...like a hundred years from now, nothing that we ever did, or said, or even believed is going to matter, because once we die, we simply cease to exist?"

No, you're thinking of the Book of Ecclesiastes.

Cena_mark - 2008-07-23

This is an XTREME Christian, I think he's cool. In a sense he's right. Lets just stop fighting over this shit and live our lives.

Smellvin - 2008-07-23

The problem is that:

A. No one can do neat stuff 100% of the time and there will be downtime which needs to be wasted. (Arguing with Christians is just as good as anything else, if you're into it).
B. Some religious people don't seem to be too into the "live and let live" and prefer to cajole, scream, and legislate based on their bronze-age, Semetic myths.

Cleaner82 - 2008-07-23

Yes, you totally think he's troll. I mean cool. I mean you're a troll.

Cena_mark - 2008-07-23

Listen Dirtier82, I'm not trolling, I'm just different. And this guy doesn't seem all that bad for a holy roller. I'm sure he's the most popular counselor in the church youth group.
If you want to waste whatever time you have in your one and only life, which has no meaning, because there is no God, being bitter. Then do so, but don't let your negativity rub on me.

simon666 - 2008-07-23

cena mark: but there is meaning in life, precisely because we do 'do things'. there is no inherent meaning in life, but we certainly provide it. the tree is not beautiful because the tree exudes beauty, but rather because i find the tree beautiful. the tree means something to me, beauty.

Cleaner82 - 2008-07-24

I never said I was an athiest. Dirtier? Even for the wrestling fan character you've concocted that's weak sauce.

ChocFullOfFunk - 2008-07-24

(simon, you might want to think about whether you've just tautologically defined "meaning" as applied to something like life as "something," in which case what you haven't said anything at all. Additionally, I think your train of thought leads straight to solipsism -- you've asserted that every thing x that has a property P has property P simply because I assign it this property -- which might not be quite what you desire. Consider x = "you" and P = "exists." Just putting that out there. I though maybe I'd try something new and argue with someone on the internet.)

Severian - 2008-07-23

Self-righteousness and ignorance go so well together.

sheikurbouti - 2008-07-23

If I was an atheist, I would spend my time doing really cool things and not arguing about little things... Good call.

Ghoul - 2008-07-24

These people never seem to get it. Existence IS a cosmic accident. Life doesn't have any inherent meaning or logical structure. Your life in particular is not important in the grand scheme of things. You'll get over it.

Mankind is no better or worse than any other animal. Each one of our kind is born, suffers at the beck and call of others, and will one day rot in the ground. Free of worry or pain.

Thank God for that.

heyitslozeau - 2008-07-24

how does no god mean that life is meaningless? no promise of reward for your life?

bac - 2008-07-24

I agree with half of what he says. the stuff that doesn't contradict or patronize...or make any sense at all.

Xenocide - 2008-07-24

"Because if there's no god, then there's no purpose to life!"

So very true. Nothing has a purpose unless it's predefined for you by someone else!

That's why every time I turn on my computer, I have to go find someone to tell me why I did so, and what I intend to do with it. Usually they just say "you're going to post dumb jokes to Portal of Evil and its various offshoots," and shoo me away. And then I have a purpose!

And that's my origin story.

TeenerTot - 2008-07-24

I agree totally.
I get realy miffy when believers assume that I must not be ethical/moral/purposeful without a god.

In fact, I think atheists have a purer purpose than "goddies". my atheist ethics/morals/purpose comes from genuine compassion for humanity and a true realization that BECAUSE there is no god we should treat each other like we're all we've got.

So neener-neener-neener.

ashtar. - 2010-04-21

'origin story'

Dinky Patterson - 2008-07-24

Die. Please.

dead_cat - 2008-07-24

"If /I/ was an atheist, I certainly wouldn't act like a fucking retard who thinks having been an employee at Kent Hovind's Dinosaur Adventure Land means I have any business trying to run a ministry of any kind."

If only.

Randroid - 2008-07-24

Ah yes, the "Cool Preacher".

Knuckles - 2008-07-24

That rubik's cube was already solved.

Also at the end it looked like he was going for "to all you atheists out there..l fuck you!"

KnowFuture - 2008-07-24

STANLEY SPADOWSKI NOOOOOOOOO

Cena_mark - 2008-07-24

Check it out in the very last second he falls down. Now I'm starting to doubt he can actually solve rubics cubes on one.

Geoff Marr - 2008-08-28

Oh wow christians are crazy.

IrishWhiskey - 2011-07-12

He's right. It's total insanity to waste even a second of your life criticizing other people's beliefs.

Which is why people who criticize racism should shut the hell up.

Bort - 2013-01-27

Okay, smartypants, two can play at that game. If you truly believe there is an invisible monster who will punish you forever if you don't love it enough, then you won't spend a single second of your life doing anything except trying to love that invisible monster. The time you spent learning to unicycle ... ? The invisible monster was no doubt watching you and deciding how to punish you for devoting some of your time to not-loving-it activities. And to be sure, all the energy you spend on trying to be smarter than atheists is energy not spent on loving the invisible monster. So I question YOUR sincerity.

... "Loving the invisible monster" sounds like a euphemism for violent masturbation.

oddeye - 2014-06-20

I do think all life is ultimately pointless but I do things anyway because I enjoy it and I enjoy helping others, regardless of the ultimate outcome. The journey is often more important than the destination, shit-eater.

This video made my eyes roll so hard I had to crank my neck to accommodate their torque.
