This song has excellent ideas about what to do with a dinosaur. Japan's children are in good hands.

Always remember - when you kick the earth in the face, it gets angry (angry!)

Also: it's good to have an empty head.

Maggot Brain - 2008-05-16

And to think I thought the American intro was bad.

Dancing giant monkey.

"However hard your chest pounds" (Shot of Bulma's cleavage)

Camonk - 2008-05-16

So uh why do people watch this again?

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-05-16

I guess you had to be there.

Well, actually, I was there, and I didn't watch it.

Never mind.

fatatty - 2008-05-16

You obviously don't understand the awesomeness of kung fu fighting mixed with flying, screaming and fireballs. And for that I feel sorry for you.

Camonk - 2010-06-20

It's the shitty animation and nothing happening that I don't get.

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-05-16

All things considered, I kind of liked this theme song.

But that's it.

The original Dragonball was a fun kid's show. Which explains why this overmuscled powerwank got such a campy song.

Fun trivia: Akira Toriyama, the dude who created the comic for this, wanted to end it before it became Z, but he was pressured into continuing for franchise reasons. From what people say, he hated Z as much as we do now.

metalgazebo - 2008-05-16

Sorta. He wanted to end it at the Frieza story. But they did pressure him to continue the most popular manga ever, which got there mostly by virtue of resembling the inside of a twelve year old boys head. All abstract boobies, violence and toilet humor and it's obvious by the end of it that he was completely burnt out.

Though the idea of Z is a function of the cartoon rather than the comic, which was called dragonball the entire way.

Quad9Damage - 2008-05-16

Every direction he went in Z was guided by pressure. After the Cell saga, he wanted to start over fresh with Gohan as the main character. But the fans bitched and bitched and bitched (or maybe Toei bitched and bitched and bitched) and he caved in and brought back Goku, effectively tossing out the whole "power passing from father to son" thing in favor of stupider looking hair.

Mostly Pi - 2008-05-17

That really makes sense. By the end of the Freeza storyline pretty much everyone but Goku were ancillary characters and it had all but burned itself out as a genuinely interesting show. If it had ended there it would have been a good adolescent hero-makes-good fantasy, rather than the overextended trek into mediocrity that it became.

I mean, really, once your characters are fucking blowing up planets to go any further is to wander dangerously close to the aspie fantasy zone of storytelling.

Borborygmus - 2008-05-16

sparking indeed.
