Lemmy was at school one day as a young lad and some total waker brings a guitar in and is strumming chords and girls are all around him, and Lemmy thinks "This is a hypothesis worth experiment".

So he digs up a guitar and next day brings it in and learns some open chords in class while girls gather round.. the strings cut his fingers but he keeps playing while bleeding and the girls think that is totally fierce.

That evening he decides "I think I have discovered what I shall do for the rest of my life."

Seriously. His autobio isn't Shakespeare but has its monies worth in stories.

There was a time when playing guitar got you chicks? There was one guy in high school who got attention for playing guitar, as opposed to us dirty rocker types that actually lived it. Every time he'd be sitting around playing a Nirvana song or whatever was on the radio that week, I wanted to grab it and beat him with it in front of his entourage.

Now I know that someday, Lemmy's mole will devour him and everybody like him.

To be fair, this was the mid-50's when only about 20 people in the entire UK had ever heard of rock'n'roll. Strumming a Chuck Berry song on guitar was the equivalent of that ape in "2001" achieving sentience. It made girls' clothes disappear. It was Rock. It was Good.
