That's a nice Victory Dance at the end.

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-02-16

A throughly undignified showing by all parties. In fifty years, people we look at this in the same way we see blackface today.

Remote controlled boxes on wheels vs. other remote controlled boxes in wheels being banged into each other, all the exciting action here on BATTLEBOTS

Syd Midnight - 2008-02-17

Well, that's why wedgebots are evil. It's a lot of fun when the robots have hammers, saws, pincers, or spinning death rotors.

I just like when Warhead's rotor gets so charged up that it starts bouncing around.

ProfessorChaos - 2008-02-16

God, I miss this show. It was such a guilty pleasure.
Though, i never figured out for the life of me why it aired on comedy central.

FABIO2 - 2008-02-16

Fucking wedgebots. They're what makes 99% of these matches so boring.

I really, really hope that the contestants wrote those announcer intros and that nobody actually got paid for it.

EvilHomer - 2008-02-16

I fucking hated those wedgebots. Oooo, lookit me, I'm a little wedge! I've got a low center of gravity, and I'm now going to flip the other dude over! Fuck wedgebots. I get so stoked whenever one of those assholes bites it.

I don't get all the camp and guilt that seems to surround this show these days. Come on, people, it's robots killing each other! Next to Junkyard Wars/Scrapheap Challenge, this may well have been the most important television show in history.

Syd Midnight - 2008-02-17

Junkyard Wars was a lot of fun, not easy finding clips though.

ztc - 2008-02-16

Man, fuck a wedgebot. The UK Robot Wars was ruined when everyone stopped making preposterous chainsaw death-gyroscopes and started playing to win. They all seem to be crewed by one friendless beardo as well.

I saw a survival research labs show beneath the Viaduct in Seattle around 1990. After seeing SRL I can't really get into these things. Some features:

- Giant dual cattle prods with voltage turned up (we were told if we touched them we died)

- A jet fuel flame thrower

- A device that LAUNCHED CRICKETS. Like actual insects. These crickets would burn in the flames and create the most vile but exciting odor of battle. They also ended up all over the audience, causing screams.

- Various claws and spikes and buzz saws

- Ten times larger than these battlebot things.

- Angry inventors in trench coats who listened to Skinny Puppy and didn't look like soccer moms and mormons.

CAN WE HAVE SOME VIDEO PLEASE? You had me at burning cricket launcher.
