Seen this before on some other site. Worth watching, especially for the hilarious hard sell at the end.

TheQuakeSoldier - 2008-01-28

"Hard sell" is an understatement. "If you leave this room after seeing this film, and walk out and never mention Scientology again, you are perfect free to do so. It would be stupid, but you can do it. You can also dive off a bridge or blow your brains out, that is your choice."

Jesus fuck.

Innocent Bystander - 2008-01-23

This is so funny. And I think the "chef" who gives a testimonial is an actor I've seen somewhere.

Aernaroth2 - 2008-01-27

Yeah. He was on south park, wasn't he?

Food - 2008-01-23

so when will the first schism be?

ZawBanjito - 2008-01-23

Scientology, according to the IRS and by court order, a religion.

Ugh. I've defended Scientology a lot of times, but this was way waaaaay creepier than I had bargained for.

kingarthur - 2008-01-23

You defended Scientology? What were you smoking?

ZawBanjito - 2008-01-23

I think about it this way: what evidence do we have that Scientology is anything more than simply silly? Hysterical, paranoid testimony from people who were hysterical and paranoid enough to join the Church of Scientology in the first place, and the government of Germany, which has oh, always been such a beacon of rationality. Based on this, people seem to think there's permission to start a mob and stomp about honking declarations about stuff that really is none of their business and affects their life in no way at all. Seriously, when has Scientology ever done anything to you that you couldn't just ignore? Seriously, tell me if it has happened to you, because I've never met anyone. 150 years ago the Mormons were all polygamists and communal socialists with their own army, and everyone was howling for their blood, quite literally. And then that died down, and they went mainstream and now they're best well known for their nice haircuts and well-pressed shirts. Look at this video, all the focus on legal standing, and copyright, and tax law, and their really desperate-seeming pursuit of popular celebrities, and I get a picture of people who would go respectable in a second if they weren't always being forced to circle the wagons. They'll just sit in there and talk about how special they are and how everyone is idiots except them, which is exactly what we're seeing Cruise doing in these recent videos. And which is what every group of Sci-Fi nerds do in their rooms while the bullies ride around the block on their bikes, hoping one will come out wearing their Picard uniform. Calm down. They'll grow up in time, throw out their toys, lose some weight, and buy a suit when they realize no one will fuck 'em otherwise.

Gojira1000 - 2008-01-23

Anything that makes the world yet more stupid harms me, and everyone. So, yes, Scientology deserves all the vitriol it gets.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-01-23

I'm sure the people who have been locked up in Scientology safehouses that died when they needed medical attention would agree with you. If they weren't dead.

Benzene265 - 2008-01-23

At least with Mormons, you don't have to pay thousands of dollars to get saved. Scientology is blatantly a moneymaking scheme. Or at least it was when L. Ron was still alive. With the whole office/shrine thing going on now, we'll probably live to see him elevated to the status of God when they finally go mainstream.

snothouse - 2008-01-24

One of my very good friends produced a comic book making fun of Scientology and put it on the internet. Within a week, it was taken down, and he received threating letters and phone calls from one of the Scientology headquarters. I guess Sci-Fi nerds could do that too, but it seems a bit more sinister in this context.
On the other hand, OMG A CRUISE SHIP!

kingarthur - 2008-01-24

I think I can find several non-Scientologists in Clearwater, FL that could tell you some true stories about Scientology. Along with people who have tried to leave the cult, I mean religion, or rejected it after their parents became involved. Just sayin'.

When I think about it, judaism, christianism, islam, and all religions started by being as dumb as scientology. The only difference is that at the time , people weren't informed/educated enough to protest against it, and some of them sincerely believed all this shit.
So here you have a good argument for fighting against scientology.

"BILLIONS of Scientologists waiting to be your friends"?

I'm glad they've dropped the facade and are now making factual errors that don't rely on E-meters and a belief in body thetans to disprove.

Lurchi - 2008-01-23

100% evil

also you have all been reported

frau_eva - 2008-01-23

I can't believe they compared L. Ron Hubbard to Buddha. This is the only time I wish Buddhists were violent. Also,

THE GOV'MENT WANTS TO CONTROL YOUR MIND.

Rodney - 2008-01-23

Xenu said it; Tom believes it; that settles it!

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-01-23

Also, the first 20 seconds are the most informative in this entire thing.
