Having the Alien say things like that gives it a real Jim Henson quality. It's a side of that monster I never thought I would see.

"We require more vespene gas"

Seven year olds know all the cool movies are rated R!

dead_cat - 2008-01-13

Even as a kid, that was one thing that really puzzled me. I could have toys from [movie], but I couldn't go see it? Well then, why were they making toys for movies I couldn't fucking see?! It wasn't like Mom and Dad wanted to play with [movie] action figures.

Innocent Bystander - 2008-01-13

"Oh no! The alien parasite just burst through Jimmy's chest! He's spitting blood everywhere!"

kingarthur - 2008-01-13

Hey kids! Now you too can have a surrealist nightmare action figure of your own!

Binro the Heretic - 2008-01-13

I was nine years old when the movie came out, so of course my parents wouldn't let me see it. They did, however, buy me lots of the officially licensed Alien™ toys.

I wanted one of these action figures badly, but never got one. They were hard to find in the rural town we were living in at the time.

I finally got to watch Alien when I turned thirteen. It scared the living Hell out of me.

Gamara II - 2008-01-13

My dad bought one of these when it was out and passed it down to me. They're great.

Thatcher Pennywhistle - 2008-01-14

In first grade I came in from recess and saw that a second grader had one of these. Alien was just being shown on HBO and he had the cable tv-guide with the green backlit picture of the egg.

His eyes were as wide as saucers and there was no life there, like one of those crystal clear lakes killed by sulfur pollution.

Repomancer - 2008-01-14

This reminds me -- When I was at Activision, they gave away a FULL-SIZE ALIEN prop from one of the movies as a promotion for some stupid game. Can you imagine having that thing in your bedroom? No one even wanted to be in the office alone at night with it.

Not that that has anything to do with this, but hey.

I remember by the time Alien 3 was coming out me and my schoolfriends knew the film Aliens back-to-front, and Aliens-themed toys (power loader, etc) started appearing in all the catalogues. You could get Terminator and Robocop toys, too.

Explodotron - 2010-01-14

I loved my power loader. My dad and I used a blow torch and nails to give it "battle damage." I think it ended up on the garage roof with Wolverine.

Stars are for the video *and* giddy nostalgia.

Old_Zircon - 2008-01-14

I knew someone who had one of these. He was also an early adopter of the Atari Jaguar.

Old_Zircon - 2008-01-14

Actually, his was the later one released between Aliens and Alien3, but still.

B_Ko - 2011-11-30

I had one or two Alien toys when i was a kid.

It just occurred to me I have never seen a single Alien film.
