It's actually more plausible than Greedo having shot first. I'm not being bitterly sarcastic when I say that.
If anything this scene (minus the new lasers) shows that the original Star Wars was at times genuinely funny and not unintentionally funny like the prequels.
It helps that the entire conversation was ad-libbed, which is something that Mr. Control Freak would never allow to happen later on.
