They should incorporate that ending into every video game advertisement.

So has David Cronenberg done any other video game commercials?

I bet that last 15 seconds really helped sell more copies.

Oh god. The decline of videogame advertising has never been more clear than it is now.

A Joust movie is in preproduction. This commercial renders it even less necessary.

It's a shame that the Atari 5200 was a failure in the marketplace just because it wasn't backwards-compatible with the 2600. I mean, come on, the 2600's games were complete pieces of shit, even by 1982 standards. If people wanted to keep playing their 2600 games they could, I dunno, keep their fucking 2600. Or Atari could have put out a 2600 compatibility cartridge or something, for those people who really cared. Of course the lack of 2600 compatibility wasn't the sole reason for its commercial failure; it also had those terrible controllers. It's interesting that Atari repeated the exact same mistakes when they designed the Jaguar.
All this has absolutely nothing to do with the above ad.

Repomancer - 2008-04-10 I had Joust for my 5200!
The 5200 was just a 400 computer in console garb. The Jaguar was a monumental fuckup with an incredibly bizarre architecture unlike anything before or (thankfully) since.

I was wrong.

The crazy turkey/ostrich transformation scene was Adrian Lyne's inspiration for Jacob's Ladder.

HURF BLURF DUH - 2007-10-19
First of all, what the fuck is up with a 2 minute 30 second commercial for a video game cartridge. TV spots were 30 seconds back in 1982 just like they are now, weren't they?
Second, the end part... wow.
