Minorities start out as bad guys, then cultural backlash makes them only good guys and once that minority becomes commonly boring they can be good or bad guys (but only played by popular straight white actors)

SolRo - 2022-04-07 Ironically the generic mixed race gangs are typically the most diverse organizations in Hollywood fiction.

jfcaron_ca - 2022-04-07 IRL one of the better-known street gangs in Surrey BC (at least 10ish years ago) was "The UN", so-named because they were explicitly the not-racist gang (not that the UN doesn't promote structural racism in some of its policies but at least it has diversity).
