No doubt he was aware of the failed stunt Schettino pulled and that the ship was in dire peril. DeFalco had no fucking time for Schettino's panicked damage control. He knew he fucked up and not wanting to get into trouble with the authorities was driving his decision making process. And DeFalco was immediately aware this clown was just going to be one terrible decision after another to try and save his own ass instead of passengers and crew. Later when Schettino decided to be one of the -first people to evacuate the Concordia- DeFalco had his famous little 'chat' with the good cruise ship captain.
