I don't know how Cosby got freed, but the horrible truth is that the system of justice is intrinsically broken when it comes to the crime of rape, always has been, and maybe always will be. The presumption of innocence always works against victims of a crime that, in many cases, leaves the same forensic evidence as consensual sex.

And what happens when the presumption of innocence is lost? If the definition of a hate crime is a crime that serves as a means of social control, a way to marginalize people, not only is rape a hate crime, the loss of the presumption of innocence, when it happens, can turn the justice system into a kind of hate crime, like when it was used against black males in the Jim Crow era.
