Never heard of these. We mustnt have gotten them in Ireland.
Even consoles were not that common here in my experience. No-one I knew had one, but plenty of people had microcomputers like C64, Amiga and early PC's

My younger brother had one of those Captain Power sets with the VHS tape and ship-gun. it was pretty cool, but it did get old fast.

There released 3 "mission" tapes, and each one was supposed to be an increase in difficulty, but none of the levels were ever as tough as the very first level of the very first tape, a training mission. I swear that fucker Power had arranged it to take out a rising rival and make it look like a training accident.

The actual show had a surprising amount of substance to it for a kids' toy tie-in. From the same showrunner as Babylon 5.

The Captain Planet tapes actually had some really impressive animation. Just a bunch of absurdly detailed future planes and giant robots shooting each other to pieces.
