Heh I guess screw you if you aren't watching WandaVision

themilkshark - 2021-02-28

YES PRECISELY

Nominal - 2021-02-27

So is this show for people who think Twin Peaks is "boring", the stupidest parts of American Horror Story weren't stupid enough, Eerie Indiana was too cerebral, and that Riverdale wasn't self congratulatory enough about its self awareness?

This show's writers room is staffed entirely by tvtropes editors, isn't it?

(I'm guessing this is a huge recent spoiler if you give a crap about the show, so good job throwing that up on the front page?)

themilkshark - 2021-02-28

It's just a TV show that people like, jeez

Xenocide - 2021-02-28

Nominal isn't sure why he hates this show, so he's just going to namedrop a bunch of other shows and hope that passes for an opinion.

Nominal - 2021-03-01

Because it's the laziest kind of 50s suburbia mockery that got old 20 years ago.

Sorry if comparing shows to other shows is too mind blowing a concept for you.

Xenocide - 2021-03-01

Nah, there's nothing mindblowing about how nerds on the internet are forever complaining about shows they don't even watch.

Only one episode is even set in the 50's, and the show is way too fond of the eras it's set in to be seen as mocking them. You know that the point of Twin Peaks wasn't "David Lynch is mocking small towns!" either, right?

casualcollapse - 2021-03-01

Wow nominal these opinions of yours, why do you have them

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2021-03-01

People who enjoy things are just the WORST!

SolRo - 2021-03-02

Spoiler; the show literally jumps sitcom timelines every episode until things break down post 2000 (natch.)

jangbones - 2021-02-28

I enjoy this show. Fuck you.

Violet Intents - 2021-02-28

5 just to spite Nominal and that film class 101 angsty rant above. Seriously one of the more pretentious stuck up their own asses things I've read in a good while.

Nominal - 2021-03-01

Who is this show for? Apparently for the kind of people who'd call Eerie Indiana pretentious elitist film student material.

Thank you for answering my question

SolRo - 2021-03-01

It’s a decent show that has a handful of interesting premises and plot twists.

It’s not a classic but it’s also not a total waste of a monthly fee.

Nominal - 2021-03-01

That's fair.

But you could be a secret beret-wearing, snooty Riverdale film student just trying to trick me. That's just the kind of sneaky shit those pretentious CW execs would try to pull!

SolRo - 2021-03-01

All according to keikaku

TeenerTot - 2021-03-01

It was Agatha all along?

So now I don't need to watch the show, right?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2021-03-01

I've been watching this while editing video, and so I'm not paying that much attention, and I'm not quite following this.

But my opinion is that "it was Agatha all along" isn't all that much of a spoiler. The bigger question is what the fuck is going on here, not who's behind it.

Last month I subscribed to Marvel Unlimited, an app which provides digital access to a massive amount of comic book content. I haven't read comics since the price hit 1.25 in the early 80s, and I'm discovering a diversity and range in the stories and theme beyond the traditional straight-ahead action stuff. (Who's seen IMMORTAL HULK?)

WandaVision represents a new direction for the MCU, reflecting some of these trends from the comics, and I'm not sure I'm going to love it as much as seeing the heroes I loved when I was eight years old, brought so vividly to life. Now we're going to have movies about the Falcon, and Black Widow, and Valkerie. Hulk has the the mind of Bruce Banner, Thor has joined Guardians of the Galaxy, Asgard is destroyed, Odin and Loki are dead, Tony Stark is dead, and Steve Rogers is in his 90s.

The fact is, I'm not as excited by characters that dont take me back to my childhood. I've seen Guardians of the Galaxy a fraction of the number of times I've seen Captain America: Civil War, and Thor Ragnorok. Objectively, I'm not sure that Guardians of the Galaxy isn't just as good.

I'm not that crazy about Wanda and Vision, who I remember as minor characters all those years ago. The best part of the MCU may be over for me, but me and the other boomers have received more fan service than we have any right to expect.

The Mothership - 2021-03-14

It's a comic book TV show, yo. And y'all are getting kinda worked up about it.

I kinda like the show.
