It's interesting how commonly homelessness was represented in 80s/Early 90s pop culture, and how little it shows up in movies/TV now, even though numbers of houseless people have exploded since then.

Also, the idea that they'd actually touch him to save him instead of calling the cops and hiding inside while he drowned is literally unbelievable to me.

Well, none of these actors exhibit quite the pathos of a Richard Dreyfuss or a Nick Nolte or a Bette Midler, except maybe the dog.

Also interesting to note how often Hispanic maids show up in 80s shows and movies but they disappear from the screen by the time the 00s show up.

The movie actually did have something to say about class that was utterly lost here. The rich were at least being satirized to some degree with Nolte and Midler but here it's just a fucking cartoon. Everything about this smacks of caricature. It's amazingly insensitive to the point where I can laugh at the boldness from which they really give zero fucks.
