I feel like whoever updloaded this is claiming that the Simpsons is trying to make a point about "America's Gun debate", using monkey's paws and flying saucers as an "allegory" (see the description), not that the uploader is trying to use a clip from the Simpsons to make his own point, which would also be pretty stupid, but at least it would be honest.

Marlon Brawndo - 2020-05-04 It is a really good point, though. You can get rid of weapons among civilians but getting armed criminals' guns is going to be a lot harder. I see it as a metaphor for that. Kang and Kodos are not going to stop being asshole tentacle monsters just because we confiscate clubs or sacks of doorknobs like Moe prefers.
A world without sacks of doorknobs is not a world that will protect our flag. Thank you.

But getting rid of weapons among civilians is not "America's gun control debate", which centers on things like background checks, assault rifle bans, modernizing records, and eliminating regulatory loopholes for gun shows. Total disarming of civilians is the greatest strawman of all time.
And disarming the military is not a metaphor for disarming civilians.
Good Simpsons episode, though.

The Treehouse of Horror clip is hilarious and gets 5 stars.
Brawndo’s argument here is really REALLY dumb and gets 1 star. (This has nothing to do eith the highs and lows of Brawndo’s character, just the dumbness of his point.)

I don't support gun control because it's a lost cause and a total loser for the Democrats that mobilizes Republican voters like no other. Overall, violent crime has declined in recent years, including murder, so it's hard to characterize high-profile mass shootings as a crisis. If Democrats could win more elections, they might find more effective ways to prevent gun violence.
But the only argument against that is honest is "People like guns.", and the old Benjamin Franklin "Freedom trumps safety" argument. In Binghamton in 2009, someone went into the offices of a non-profit about a block and a half from where I lived at the time and shot up the place, killing a dozen people before killing himself. Gun advocates were arguing "He could have used a knife, or a baseball bat".
No. You cannot kill 12 people with a baseball bat. Not unless they want you to kill them. With a knife tyou could kill a couple of people, three if you're lucky.
