The media and political leaders are acting like it's business as usual, just do things the same as every other election, and reason will prevail. Just like 2016, reason will prevail. We won't reelect a senile malignant narcissist again, right? They wouldn't let that happen.
There's a 33% cult of personality with zero attachment to democracy, equality, or the rule of law beyond personal power. Trump has told them it's good to simply ignore facts and reporting that made them doubt or question, and Fox News and talk radio have been priming them for years to do so. You can't convince or reason with these people, and it's immoral to compromise with those promoting fascism and white nationalist.
If we have fair elections, this would still be a problem, but not a threat to the country. But we don't. The last two Republican Presidents lost the popular vote, but were appointed anyway, one by the Supreme Court ignoring the vote. This Supreme Court has given the green light to gerrymandering to rig the vote openly.
We won't have a democracy, if we don't fight for it. And I don't mean by just voting.

There are trumpers that are complete and utter morons (and/or senile) that can’t form an opinion without Fox News telling them what it is.
There are trumpers that only care about ‘owning the libs’ no matter the cost, even if they knowingly lie, even if hurts them.
Most are in the middle of that spectrum. They are smart enough to function in society but if they have to face an uncomfortable situation or fact they have good old Fox News to tell them they’re good and right, and it’s the scapegoats that are the problem. The evil scapegoats that hate America and your white xtian family.
Conservative media is a very highly effective dehumanization propaganda campaign. Everyone that isn’t One of Us is evil and shifty and backstabbing. 75 years ago they’d be passing out posters of slit-eyed buck toothed Democrats, hook-nosed environmentalists and bloodthirsty Africans.
