This is the movie equivalent of scabies. You'll never forget it. You'll always regret what led up to you encountering it. It lingers.

I had to go out on a date with a girl who really wanted to see this movie. And she loved every minute of it. I never called her back. Does that make me a bad person?

casualcollapse - 2019-04-28

I can blissfully say I've avoided this movie my entire 33-year-old life..

badideasinaction - 2019-04-28

I met someone through my girlfriend who showed us "eight crazy nights" while telling me it's the greatest movie of all time.

It was really convenient because I knew from that point onward to disregard his opinions on absolutely everything.

Marlon Brawndo - 2019-04-28

That's a good move.

Binro the Heretic - 2019-04-28

I'm actually glad they included his turtle bit in all the promotional stuff.

It let me know I should avoid this movie like the fucking plague.

garcet71283 - 2019-04-29

And yet I quote exactly this (the “turtle turtle” part from the trailers) and alarming amount...

teethsalad - 2019-04-28

"September 11th, 2001: when the cast and crew of "The Master of Disguise" heard what had happened, they held a moment of silence. Dana Carvey was playing the role of Pistachio Disguisey, wearing this big green turtle suit."

BHWW - 2019-04-28

Oh this movie was supposed to be Carvey's attempt at a comeback after failing to launch his film career via failed vehicles like "Blank Slate" and "Opportunity Knocks", really didn't take.

His botched surgery didn't do his career much favors either, but you can't really blame him for that, that would just be gauche.

Old_Zircon - 2019-04-28

I didn't actually know about that. Was it cosmetic or something else?

Did he pull an Erin Gray?

Rangoon - 2019-04-28

from Wikipedia: "In 1997, Carvey underwent heart bypass surgery for a blocked coronary artery, but the surgeon operated on the wrong artery. The blocked artery was deeply buried in muscle and thus hard to find; another artery, though not blocked, was clearly accessible; so the surgeon mistakenly performed the bypass on this unblocked artery. Carvey, later suffering from angina pectoris, sued for medical malpractice and was awarded $8 million in damages. He donated the money to charity.[27][28] He has had to undergo additional surgery to correct his heart problems.[29] He told Newsday that, while he was in the hospital for his final angioplasty, Frank Sinatra died in the room adjacent to his.[15]"

spikestoyiu - 2019-04-29

"He donated the money to charity."

Alright so that's pretty great

Chicken the Did - 2019-04-28

Meh, it's not like Myers isn't in the same boat now. He only got the Shrek role because the other choice dropped dead.

At least Carvy is personable and has a lot of side gigs. Myers followed Chevy Chase's example of being a complete fuckstick to everyone and everything in Hollywood. Nobody can stand his fucking temper tantrums.

Old_Zircon - 2019-04-28

So who's going to be the one to stream this?

Or did I miss it?

simon666 - 2019-04-29

Monday Night Raw?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2019-04-29

I've got May 13, And I intend to have it handy in case anyone bitches about "Legally Blonde".

Go ahead. Make my day.

Has anyone ever made it all the way through a brilliant comedy without crashing and burning horribly, usually for years? The Dana Carvey show was great. I think Chevy Chase's brilliant first (and only) season on SNL has had a huge influence on male American comedians in the last part of the twentieth century. And that alone has contributed to the sheer carnage of American comedy.

Maggot Brain - 2019-04-30

I'm like 90% sure that Carvey is doing a send up of Shurik and Zhenya from the old Mosfilm comedies.
