It's also interesting to see the details of a game beneath a game being played, where there are norms and norm violations and how those norm violations are handled. Syndergaard was trying to hit Utley to correct for something, which the umps are generally okay with, but it seems Syndergaard misjudged the situation and that hitting Utley wasn't the right response.
Anyone have the details as to what the underlying issue was?

Bootymarch - 2019-03-15 Chase Utley slid into Ruben Tejada and broke his leg in the previous year's playoffs; it was dirty as hell (or a "good hard-nosed play" if you're a psychopath) and the mlb did nothing about it. The order to throw at him almost certainly came from the mets management to get him back (happens a lot), not just the pitcher acting alone.
If you play dirty in baseball, you will have a 90+ mph fastball thrown at you sooner or later, and the pitcher can just claim they lost control.

jangbones - 2019-03-15 I have worked in a job where I have heard a lot of unedited audio from professional athletes and coaches, often while they are playing.
a few observations;
1) it's all ego, way more than money I think
2) they use even more profanity than you would expect
3) a few of these dudes are clearly on something, mentally disturbed or some combination (most are not and are perfectly fine humans when not playing)
4) football is fucking complicated
5) coaching is the single most frustrating vocation imaginable

i listened to this live on the radio and had money on the Dodgers for the series. It became a sweep due to Syndergaard's early ejection here and won me around an extra 100 bucks. I was really happy about it all.
Then this video came out a year later and i got to relive all of that joy.
