crocodiles are cannibalistic by nature.

most of the time fluffy mammals are way easier to kill than other crocodiles, so they don't eat each other.

when fluffy mammals are scarce they start eating each other.

I think it's super-fun. Cool fact: there is no such thing as crocodile overpopulation. (Defining "overpopulation" here as "there's so many of you that you eat up all the prey species, causing a population crash".) Long before you reach carrying capacity the crocs will start gobbling each other, alleviating the pressure.
