I ain't gonna one star this, but I won't celebrate it either, the correct response is to never pay attention to anything having to do with whatever godawful stupidity this is.

cognitivedissonance - 2018-08-08

I’ve said it before, but Bill Cooper tried to warn us.

Pillager - 2018-08-08

I'll miss the crazy old coot.

I'm also dreading the reprisals that will come of this.

il fiore bel - 2018-08-08

Don't worry, Twitter's standing by him.

They refuse to cave in to pressure!

poorwill - 2018-08-08

fuckin lol https://twitter.com/robbystarbuck/status/1027262855580606464 (jack is jack dorsey, ceo of twitter)

SolRo - 2018-08-08

Is he right-wing, a gullible idiot or money-grubbing? Or all 3?

cognitivedissonance - 2018-08-09

He's terrified of a right-wing exodus to another microblog platform.

SolRo - 2018-08-09

Then he's a money-grubbing idiot. The rightwing loonies already tried to take their ball and play by themselves several times, it's always failed.

exy - 2018-08-09

/me points toward Fox News

cognitivedissonance - 2018-08-10

/me points to the multitude of religious news agencies segregated by sect

SolRo - 2018-08-10

You’re confusing social media with regular media

blase - 2018-08-08

Rumor has it this was actually a strategic act, designed to call attention to the plight of censorship of right-wing opinions. He's just a crisis actor.

Seven Arts/H8 Red - 2018-08-08

I imagine Alex Jones will ready his infinite mass punch on the mainstream media before rejoining the Speed Force.

Cena_mark - 2018-08-08

"Remember: you are a guest here. It is not censorship if you violate the rules and your post is deleted. All civilizations have rules and if you violate them you can expect to be ostracized from the tribe." Rule 19 on infowars.com

exy - 2018-08-08

I enjoyed the Jeopardy! practice round at 1:11

We haven't seen the last of this fuck

Potter - 2018-08-08

So I went to use the Alex Jones tag to show a friend that this man is a clear and present danger to society. All the links are dead.

That's pretty fucked up.

Marlon Brawndo - 2018-08-09

There are still some remixes out there adding dance music to his idiocy.

Oh and you should look up the Alex Jones Dragonball Z mashup.

BHWW - 2018-08-08

We have begged for private censorship from our oligarchs and they answered our prayers. They are just and good. It's a power that they will never abuse. It should do everyone's heart good to see "liberals" and the National Review/Free Beacon/etc "conservative" set cheering in approval of the outsourcing of censorship to powerful corporations so that they get to decide what you see based on their own set of opaque corporate interests — not yours. Outsourcing even more power to them is good, snivels every small-brained moron who keeps reposting that one stupid XKCD comic.

This isn't a SLIPPERY SLOPE IN THE FUTURE argument, it's already happening, has been happening for awhile now. I see a lot of idiots equating censorship opposition with "defending Alex Jones," and showing a lot of faith that Mark Zuckerberg, Google execs & their friends will faithfully and benevolently decide what is "hate speech".

For instance:

https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/no-unite-the-right-protes t-facebook-russia_us

Facebook deleted the page of an anti-racist organization because thanks to the Atlantic Council think tank they were flagged as a false flag Russian account or whatever the shit members of the establishment are having paranoid fits about.

Or consider how many accounts belonging to Palestinians have been deleted by FB after the Israeli government complained they were "hate speech".

But hey, no slippery slope right? This power will just be wielded against conspiracy theorists and "the bad people".

jfcaron_ca - 2018-08-08

The actual underlying problem is the corporatization of pretty much every channel of communication other than face-to-face. If we had actual public spheres, then any need for censorship would indeed fall on the government and I would want it done properly (i.e. lightly and transparently).

We have privately-owned channels for everything, we should not be surprised when the owners impose their decisions on their own property. And don't play games saying "Facebook is publicly traded" that's not what I mean by public or private and you know it.

Cena_mark - 2018-08-08

Alex Jones harms freedom of speech.

poorwill - 2018-08-08

nobody should ever try to do anything good because they might do something bad! if you don't like good things and bad things you are a hypocrite!!!!!

betabox - 2018-08-08

There's another slope. It's equally slippery, and it slopes equally steeply down the other side.

For the government to force corporations to host and showcase anything and everything that any lunatic feels like spouting would be a thing that isn't good.

Right-wing websites can delete posts from reasonable people who disagree with conservatives. It's in their rules, and it would be wrong for the government to prevent them from enforcing those rules.

Mister Yuck - 2018-08-09

Well, you're right about there being no slippery slope. Facebook and Google have obscene amounts of power over what we can see and talk about. They wield it extremely capriciously. In this case I'm okay with what they did with it. If you want to be mad about it, I'm sure within minutes they'll do something irresponsible, cynical, or vindictive with their power.

Marlon Brawndo - 2018-08-10

I don't think it's a slippery slope because this isn't about free speech. It's about how he's incited violence. People's lives are being threatened because of this asshole's lives. The people of Sandy Hook went through the hell of losing their children and now people are threatening to murder them and the only reason for this is Alex Jones. Alex has gotten away with basically skirting around the issue of violence but he essentially has rhetoric that can be easily interpreted as encouraging people to murder.

So fuck Alex Jones. Fuck him in his fat ass.

Marlon Brawndo - 2018-08-08

I kept waiting for Ritsuko to hold her hands over his head to melt it into goo.

SolRo - 2018-08-08

How can he go from goo to goo?

Maggot Brain - 2018-08-09

Gendo: Ritsuko, there was no second shooter at the grassy knoll.

Ritsuko: ... Liar.

Nominal - 2018-08-09

The New-Path van finally got him.

Protoseth - 2018-08-09

I was under the impression this had a lot more to do with profits vs. PR.. if you're worried about corporations and a slippery slope, here's the simple equation you can keep in the back of your head to know when you're going to suddenly come under their tyrannical gaze.

"fuck with our profits = we fuck with you"

Alex Jones was going to be a PR nightmare, and if he loses his suit it's possible that the platforms that sponsored him, and profited by doing so, could open themselves up to lawsuits.

It's all about money, and it always was.

SolRo - 2018-08-09

It may be ideological in this case, as jones is certainly not making Twitter enough money to risk losing major advertisers over.

Cena_mark - 2018-08-09

Dumb ideology. Free speech absolutism is absurd. All you do is give people like Jones the power to poison the very concept.

Nikon - 2018-08-09

I don't care for the guy but I respect his right to say whatever he wants. I don't have to watch him or listen to him, but more power to people who are into that. Trying to silence him is the act of a coward, and the reports of his expulsion from the internet have been greatly exaggerated.

bitchute.com/infowars/

www.real.video/channel/infowarsnews

https://gab.ai/RealAlexJones

And many, many others.

His being banned caused more people to pay attention to him and his message, for he often claimed that the globalists would try to silence him. Now this happened and it's been the best publicity he could ever have.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6039753/Alex-Jones-say s-5-6-million-people-subscribed-Infowars-Apple-ban.html

SolRo - 2018-08-10

No. You shouldn’t be able to say anything you want, especially when it’s threats or calls to violence broadcast to a large audience of delusional racists.

cognitivedissonance - 2018-08-10

Your ability to reason and think as an adult fairly is what the Right has preyed upon for decades. They know that your have morals, and that you believe everybody deserves to be heard. They're going to abuse that fact, and they're going to cram genuine evil into the debate, because 250 years ago, it was momentarily fashionable to believe in a free and open press and the privacy of one's papers, because everybody who could vote was pretty much on the same side, because they were all white, landowning men, who generally agree on things in all instances, give or take a few tiny issues like who can smoke what and how divorces should work.

Everybody entered into the debate in good faith, because everybody was pretty much on the same side, and those who disagreed simply were not consequential to the discussion. Now we have an entire political entity, and a great many of their opposing political entity, to whom there is no such thing as good faith, and it's only, exclusively about winning, at any cost, no matter the preconceived notions of gentlemanly civility that have been rendered obsolete except to those of us to whom morality features a major part of our lives.

Nikon - 2018-08-10

People who disagree are not necessarily evil. Calling them evil or Nazis or Voldemort makes it easier for opponents to feel justified in physically attacking them or depriving them of the rights they have which are guaranteed by law. Race also doesn't have anything to do with this; it isn't and shouldn't be a way to shut down debate.

The easiest way to beat Jones is to let him talk, because he digs his own grave while he does it. As an example, show someone a clip of him ranting about gay frogs and then provide a reasonable counterargument. Just about anyone can do that.

Bring civility back again.

SolRo - 2018-08-10

Except you’re wrong about everything

Jones has been allowed to talk freely for decades and amazingly enough he hasn’t imploded yet as you predict. His audience actually grew as he got more deranged and appealing to republicans with race baiting

cognitivedissonance - 2018-08-10

Except... after a point, debate stops. We have seen the end of debate. We have seen the point at which education simply does not, and cannot, progress. One side doesn’t merely want tax cuts or free trade or the end of heavy handed spotted owl ecological concerns. One side wants to reinstate slavery. I’m sorry, but civility didn’t prevent the first Civil War, and actually only exacerbated the death count. It’s no longer funny or innocent to consider theoretical genocidal ideation to simply be the lace-cuff debate of gentlemen in rarefied salons.

After a point, you’ve lost the privilege. It may have been cute to Own The Libs in debate club when you’re 17. Grow the fuck up.

Gmork - 2018-08-11

Nikon did you forget the part where he routinely gets worked up and frothy, calling people literal demons saying they "want to kill your children and family"? Not metaphorically. Literally. Telling people the end is coming, people want to murder them, etc.

Lots of these people believe in literal interpretations of the bible and have guns. Not a very spiffy combo if they also happen to be susceptible to Alex' greasy wiles. And boy howdy, there sure are a lot of them.

I'm not sure free speech covers attempts at inciting mass panic. I guess it's just "fearmongering" until someone actually gets shot or trampled to death.

You People Are Idiots - 2018-08-11

""i don't really care for __________ but""""

such obvious bullshit, right up there with 'i didnt vote bush i'm a libertarian'

fucken lmao tho
posting daily mail, real.video, gab and nazichute links and thinking anyone will believe u aren't one of those pepefrog dipshits yourself u dumbfuck chud

Waugh - 2018-08-12

you're all so stupid that even gmork is making more sense than the rest of you

Nominal - 2018-08-19

Nikon "Hilldawg will cause WWIII over Syria" might jsut be the most consistently stupid person on this sight.

(except maybe the guy who couldn't understand why you could hear an exploding rocket from miles away)

Bisekrankas - 2018-08-10

Best part of all of this is to hear right wingers calling on the state to regulate the private companies ability to control their own product.

As much as I despise Alex Jones, I hope he finds success on a new platform. Youtube has become a huge clickbait/teen react to chamber with wierd kids videos mixed in lately. I really hope there will be lots of alternative sites popping up and competing if this becomes a norm.

poorwill - 2018-08-12

That plus a weird right-wing soap box. Alex Jones fit right in and was partly responsible. Weird take.
