In ohter news, remember Alisa Chan from PoE-Red? As a teenager she used to do (G-rated) cosplay that her dad photographed, then she moved on to PG T&A (no longer photographed by her dad), and then to seminude and nude photos and videos. She even became the official model George Perez was using for his Supergirl comics a few years back. So where has her career since taken her?

POETV poll: Did you jerk it harder before or after you found out Alisa was a white supremacist?

infinite zest - 2017-08-18

Ugh what a bitch. Can't say it's ringing too much of a bell; in fact the only cosplayer from those days I remember by name was that poor kid Derek, simply because certain individuals decided to doxx the fuck out of him, resulting in the whole PD thing which should've been obvious in the first place. And yeah, like, a week ago there were people, as Trump would say, "on both sides" who protested thinking they were on the right side of history and happy to condemn "freaks" like Jeremy Christian who go a-protesting on public transportation instead of at "organized" ralles. I fucking get it. I also fucking get that these Nazi Motherfuckers have had almost a Biblical WEEK to look themselves in the goddamn mirror. This bitch was there and lied about not knowing about the "torch rally thing", thereby witnessing first-hand the violence and not hearing about it across town, this Nazi Cunt's had a Biblical goddamn week to see evil and chooses to embrace it.

Like, I'm sorry but I'm fucking sick of excuses. You know someone who has ties to the south and slavery in his family? ME! Yes, my mom's side of the family is from the deep south via a sort of "Downton Abbey" setup in England's Lake District, and they did own slaves. That same southern connection is also the reason why I'm related to Samuel Clemmens. Up until my grandmother, who was one of those dangerous thinking types, got the fuck away from there as soon as she could and from then on out I'm all Wisconsin (not that there's not a huge difference between them at this point if you leave Madison or Milwaukee) but you know what? Fuck my southern heritage and all the names I don't want to learn, and I'd say "fuck Mark Twain" but America's gone and censored/banned that dude's shit for as long as I can goddamn remember, ironically enough. If I can say "fuck my family history" and still love most of my current family, so can each one of these pricks I'd imagine, at least on some level.

infinite zest - 2017-08-18

And damnit I put in something about fapping to her but then I omitted it. But that's because of the obvious, judging by my rant. "Much more furiously" is my response, although it's very painful since political malaise is worse than whiskey dick

Bort - 2017-08-18

IZ: do you remember that Derek had a girlfriend? Yep, that was Alisa.

And fully agreed, rejecting white supremacy should be a no-brainer; if you are a white supremacist you are broken.

Also, if you're NOT a white supremacist but you're taking the backlash against white supremacists personally, you're probably more of a Nazi than you like to admit. Fix yourself.

infinite zest - 2017-08-18

oh holy shit. The forums are long since gone but my participation was minimal, but that's coming back to me like crazy now. I hope I didn't sound like I was defending any of the fouding ideologies of Nationalism by quoting Trump, since when you break it down it's all the same, but everyone has a history, and a lot of times there's ghosts in there that should have been properly examined before a horrible tragedy occurred, but exorcised completely now that several have.

infinite zest - 2017-08-18

(participation in the forums w/r/t the doxxing shit that is. I was all over the damn forums back then, although I was by my original name, which after the weird random banning and subsequent server destruction I gave up on getting back years ago.)

Old_Zircon - 2017-08-18

Why doesn't this news surprise me a bit?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2017-08-18

The planet Krypton has always been a Nazi wet dream.

Old_Zircon - 2017-08-18

Also I just checked her site on archive.org and she really was just doing shitty soft porn, wasn't she? I remember a lot of the old PoE red drama originated from people saying she was just going to end up doing shitty soft porn in a few years, her showing up and getting mad about it, and then Derek showing up and threatening to BEAT UP THE WHOLE INTERNET.

Old_Zircon - 2017-08-18

JHM, I don't know how much you're joking but Superman has always been an essentially fascist character for sure.

Bort - 2017-08-18

"JHM, I don't know how much you're joking but Superman has always been an essentially fascist character for sure."

Yeah, because if there's one thing we know about fascists, it's that they devote their free time to saving people from natural threats as well as mad men with brain defribulator ray guns, and fascists are known for making sure those mad men are taken into custody without injury and they get their day in court. Above all, fascists try very hard to NOT use their power to force society to conform to their image of how things should be. Also, fascists are known for such poor fashion sense that they put their pants on before their underwear.

infinite zest - 2017-08-18

Years ago I went to an art exhibit called "Masters of American Comics" and it broached the whole "Superman was a Nazi" thing with regards to not only the penumbra of the "Ubermench" but also in the context of pretty much DC's treatment of the Superman character since the 80s (Blind Dumb American working as a puppet for Reagan, Bush, etc. becuz Ameruca!) It's a slightly dark and almost humorous irony that's seemed to play out ever since, although I don't follow the comics at all, or at least haven't since All Star Superman years ago. Like yeah there's a history there, but at least it's acknowledged whereas you can easily find old Disney cartoons and be like "what the fuck" with very little explanation from Walt Disney except that it was a different time back then.

Bort - 2017-08-18

"DC's treatment of the Superman character since the 80s (Blind Dumb American working as a puppet for Reagan, Bush, etc. becuz Ameruca!)"

Not so much, though. You do correctly describe Superman in "The Dark Knight Returns", but the writer Frank Miller needed Superman to be a fascist just so Batman would have grounds to punch him.

And in the nu52 reboot a few years back, they decided to make Superman more of a jerk, but really what they were doing was trying to make him appeal to people who think he's too nice. Reduced powers, hounded by the masses, punches cops, rides a motorcycle ... that is so far off-model as to be closer to Wolverine than Superman.

But pretty consistently, outside of Zack Snyder films and Frank Miller and the nu52, Superman uses his powers in ways that most of us would agree are constructive and responsible. There's always someone who says "ah, but Superman is using his powers AT ALL, therefore he's fetishizing power!" but that completely ignores all the myriad ways he could misuse his powers and doesn't.

Old_Zircon - 2017-08-18

haha, ffs.

Old_Zircon - 2017-08-18

You do know that the character Superman was originally developed by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster as a satire of the latent antisemitic and fascist undertones in Nietsche and became a totalitarian world dictator before he was reworked into the omnipotent-but-benevolent anthropomorphization of American global power that he was until he was reworked again in the Bush years into a more direct embodiment of the Italian Fascist model of masculinity, right?

Bort - 2017-08-18

I know you read that somewhere and think you've got a point.

Siegel and Schuster did indeed create an evil "superman" character before creating the Kryptonian character, yes. Completely different characters.

"omnipotent-but-benevolent anthropomorphization of American global power"

"embodiment of the Italian Fascist model of masculinity"

Oh for fuck's sake, subscribing to "Jacobin" doesn't actually make you smarter, just very practiced at framing everything from their perspective. Am eager to hear about how Bullwinkle and Rocky represent the repressive power of US law enforcement agencies and their sinister information-gathering efforts.

infinite zest - 2017-08-18

Yep, Miller and Snyder's "Dr. Manhattan" take on the Man of Steel is pretty much what I've read and seen about him outside of the Reeve Superman 2, which definitely fits in with him, in the worst-case scenario, the messenger that was shot. Oh yeah and I read the arc about him getting melanoma after being inside of the sun too long with a nuke or something, which also further illustrates his internal conflict. To me, anyway he's appropriated every bit as much as Nietzsche's original definition of Superman.

badideasinaction - 2017-08-18

Wow, I remember her; she caused a stir with cosplayers for being one of the first to start doing paid content, which is common now, but was considered insane at the time. She sorta vanished for a while then tried to get back in when the money actually started showing up for the big names.

She's not really a name now most even know, except us old timers.

Gmork - 2017-08-18

Jerk off to Alisa? But she's not even attractive. She's like an 80's mannequin.

Find someone with an ass, then we'll talk shop.

Old_Zircon - 2017-08-19

"Oh for fuck's sake, subscribing to "Jacobin" doesn't actually make you smarter"

I've read maybe one and a half Jacobin articles in my life, not really my thing. Actually I'm not sure if I've read ANY Jacobin articles all the way through but I might have read one a couple years ago.

"Smart" isn't a concept I put much stock in.

jfcaron_ca - 2017-08-18

Reminds me of the "International Response" section of any wikipedia page about a recent tragedy where a bunch of random countries decry the event.

The CEO probably IS appalled by what happened, but if I'm allowed to be more cynical, it's actually jumping on the tragedy for better marketing. There's no way anyone thought "Hey they had a bunch of Brand Torches, I better boycott Brand!"

Nominal - 2017-08-18

Another "thought it was an Onion video before clicking" moment.

infinite zest - 2017-08-18

This sort of thing has happened historically. I think Coke might have been one of the first, and maybe Long John Silvers too, or at least that's the first I can remember, and it's only been more common for a company like Skittles to tweet about how Skittles are nothing more than delicious cavity orbs enjoyed by all and not a metaphor for the Syrian refugee crisis, stuff like that. I'm actually quite appalled that Dodge has nothing on their website or twitter or anything relatively easily searchable on DDG or google

jfcaron_ca - 2017-08-18

Clearly the silence from GM is to be interpreted as support for this usage of their cars. I thought Ford were the real Nazis...

Note: THAT WAS SARCASM OMG CALM DOWN.

infinite zest - 2017-08-18

5 ghost stars because that's fucking hilarious. OMG Ford was such a actual fucking nazi that I didn't wanna be inside of my girlfriend's Escort. Luckily the Escort was pretty much her asshole ex's car and we've got a Subaru now. That's another thing: when I was a kid I really wanted a Mustang ever since I saw James Bond driving one, but when I learned about its history I didn't really want one anymore. That kind of thought process can be applied to other things as well.

jfcaron_ca - 2017-08-18

Right, I guess the sarcasm was only on my first sentence. The trailing 2nd sentence was genuine snark.

jfcaron_ca - 2017-08-18

Fwiw, I just looked up Subaru and they trace their corporate genes back to an airplane & engine manufacturer for Imperial Japan until the end of WWII.

infinite zest - 2017-08-18

And this is why I have a bike. And I'm horrible behind the wheel :)

jfcaron_ca - 2017-08-18

My favourite bicycle brand is the Japanese Miyata. They used to make rifle barrels during WWII. After the war they were barred from making weapons, so they switched to high-quality steel tubing for bicycles. =\

"lonesome devils crying into the night holding torches from the store sad they will never be the store owner just the guy that buys the torch" -- Dr. Chuck Tingle

Baldr - 2017-08-18

His earlier work didn't resonate with me, but that's not bad. Maybe I should give Tingle another shot now that he's had time to develop as a writer.

The Mothership - 2017-08-19

I am selling any stock i have in Tiki brands. They will now be associated with white supremacists and Nazis.
