This is a lot more about lousy job prospects and being depressed overall than his lack of a sex life. He says he's depressed like 3 or 4 times. I don't know what to say. Depression itself can rob a lot of years from your life. I don't know if maybe he's just been undiagnosed or if the economy really has been that shitty.

Yeah he was depressed, anxious, and sexually repressed. but his biggest problem was, and remains, his bad personality and unwillingness to take action to help himself in any way no matter how much the people who care about him want to help. He is smart enough to finish school and be an engineer. Instead he is watching anime and getting fat.

Take a job that isn't ideal. It won't be the job you 'deserve' you baby. Prove you can do that for a few years without fucking up until something in your field opens up. You need history and references. Everyone has to do this.
Save up money. Cut grass, paint, do labor jobs on your days off. Yes your days off. You'll meet some characters and maybe develop a social life. might even get fit doing so. You won't have time to be depressed
