Spot on.

This was the worst entry in the series by far. Granted, I didn't go in expecting much, but Jesus, the fucking recorder music lesson scene had me howling. And come on, if you're going to show the Alien in broad daylight (robbing it of 100% of its fright value), then at least try to make it look convincing. This was some of the worst big budget CGI I've seen in recent memory.

It's worse than Resurrection or either Alien vs. Predator?

Golly.

Two Jar Slave - 2017-05-28

I remember liking Resurrection. What was bad about it?

Jimmy Labatt - 2017-05-28

Oh man, Resurrection is Citizen Kane compared to this.

At least Resurrection had Ron Perlman and that 'Ripley discovering her clones' scene, which I thought was quite well done. Also, as goofy as that water scene was, it did succeed in building a fair bit of tension, pleasantly reminding me of the vent escape from Aliens.

AVP had that Alien head shield thing.

This has Michael Fassbender learning the recorder from Michael Fassbender. Oh and a CGI alien occasionally shows up. Also Ridley Scott should be in a home.

I've said it before: Ridley Scott has directed 25 movies in 30 years, and his unique superpower as a director is that people only remember the 3 good ones.

Jimmy Labatt - 2017-05-29

Wait a minute what was the third one? Let's see: Alien, Blade Runner...Legend? Yeah I'm pretty sure that was the one.

Jimmy Labatt - 2017-05-29

No wait Blackhawk Down was pretty good as I recall.

Two Jar Slave - 2017-05-29

It was, of course, his universally-beloved Robin Hood (2010), starring Russel Crowe as the grandfoundingfather of American democracy.

Kid Fenris - 2017-05-29

Resurrection is a hateful mishmash of unappealing, poorly developed Whedon archetypes and a Ripley/Xenomorph dynamic revived through bad comic-book tropes. It's part parody, part direct-to-video knockoff. You could see it as a self-devouring commentary on the nature of franchises, but that doesn't make it an entertaining movie.

The third good Ridley Scott movie is the director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven.
