In 1994 I'd just graduated college and was waiting tables at Louise's Trattoria on Melrose and Gardner. Ritter and his family would come in all the time. I'm so sorry to say he was a total cunt. He was very snippy, a cheap tipper and we all hated waiting on him.

Incidentally I also waited table at the Coconut Club in Bev Hills with a really good guy named Brett Dieball (screen name Bret Anthony) who played Ritter in 'Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of 'Three's Company'

Was this one of those traditional sitcoms that we (the cool people) hate, but was actually pretty good in a traditional sitcom way? I have a lot of respect for the talent involved. Norman Fell and John Ritter were solid comedy veterans, and Don Knotts was DON GODDAMN KNOTTS, NATIONAL GODDAMN TREASURE. Pricislla Barnes (the one who replaced Suzanne Sommers) has been great as a murderous mother-in-law on Jane the Virgin.

But to me, Three's Company already seemed dated back in the 80s. I'm sure it's online, probably on Hulu, but I can't force myself to take another look.

Each episode was 27 minutes of recycled jokes around 5 seconds of decent physical comedy. Every plot was the same Shakespearian comedy (Much Ado? Comedy of Errors? I can't keep 'em straight) about person A overhearing half of what B said to C, leading to misunderstandings, etc.

No, it was never good, but when I was of an age that nothing in life was more important than that I not stop watching the television, they ran this shit back to back.

Aging sucks and Suzzane Summers is made out of plastic.

That is probably true but none of those women are Suzanne Sommers.
